A toad through the ice

My buddy, Alan, with a toad we pulled through the ice today. We didn’t know if we could get it through the hole. 😂

There was apparently a large plant of old brood stock. This fish was easily close to 8 pounds.

Beauty! I bet that was a heckuva battle. Never caught one anywhere near that big let alone through the ice, but the ones I have caught fought like heck.

Weighed it today, 8.15 lbs. For a hatchery fish, the colors were stunning.

BTW, we also caught 31 Kokes, another Rainbow and a Brookie.

I think it tried to take every rod in the tent down. We had a hard time determining which rod it was really on.

This was Mackay Lake, ID. 8″ hole.

No on the burbot bash. I would like to catch a few of those slimy things though.
