A sort of Sexy Shad

I had a random crank blank laying on the shop bench and finally decided to squirt some paint on it this afternoon. Everything went according to Hoyle right up until the end when the operator screwed up so some black had to go across the back to cover up his F up. It’s still sort of sexy though. Some hooks and some dropping water levels and maybe the bass will think its sexy too. Ya think?

    Hi Jimmy,

I’m curious where you get your blanks? That blank looks similar to a Rapala DT. And what do you think about the quality of the blanks? How would you say they compare to high quality, name-brand crank baits like Rapala?

Your paintings look like works of art.

Here’s where this blank came from. Great site and people to order from. I have never had a bad blank from here. They come with wrapped bills so I don’t have to mess with taping. Quality-wise, they’re every bit as solid as name branded baits. I have had exactly one bait come apart in possibly two hundred that I have painted and fish with and that one fell to a dogfish of about 12 pounds. I took a 44″ pike on one of the stick blanks they sell and it’s still in the box functional.

I learned this past weekend at a wedding women do not find it flattering when you refer to their makeup patterns in fishing lure terms. I met two pink firetigers, a parrot, and a purpledescent. Purpledescent had their act together though cuz that was the wedding colors.

You need to do what Marling Baits does on YouTube after he finishes a bait, he goes fishing with it.

You will end up liking that darker back with the chartreuse. It’s one of my staples.

That is a DAMNFINE paint job. Love the color. In fact I think the black back really completes it.
