I put together a “how to” video for anyone looking for different ways to cook their Crappie!

What are some ways you have made yours over the years?

do yourself a flavor, scale them up and use real butter. There’s nothing in fake butter that your body processes as useful. Crappie are a family favorite. Keep up the good work.

Chomps I have had them when scaled and I do admit they taste great with the skin!!! But the idea behind the fake butter is more for something to blend the seasoning with! Plus I would get myself in trouble having real butter around lol

I have to say….crappies and sunfish and perch are so good as is anytime I see garlic or onion or any strong cover spices I’d like to swat whoever is screwing them up with it. And the real butter is spot on.

Par-boil some turnip slices and use that mix on those, not crappies.

LOL! No offence Dave and thanks for making a posting the video. My comment below is not directed at you.

MOM would always try to get away with frying fish. It wasn’t healthy you know. She did all sorts of stuff to our gills that DAD an I turned up our noses at.

The last time is the only one I remember. Mom oven baked them.
I tasted them and said “Jez”.

Dad tasted them and said in a very loud and forceful voice.

“IF YOU CAN’T FRY THEM, LET ME KNOW! I WILL!”

That there ended any alteration to flour, salt, pepper with a little cornmeal fried fish.

I’d put it in the NON FOOD category. At least not for human consumption. Then again some people say that Brian is not human anymore. To much span and Hamms has transformed him into something non human.

nice way to cook them but only real butter for us ) much healthier. As far as crappies go, nothing better in the smoker when done right. )

Excuse these guys Dave…they haven’t learned to enjoy the finer Hormel products yet.

Looks like I’ll have to make a Spam video. ;)

    Just watched the video Dave.

I agree that the Forman’s are pretty handy especially if you’re living in a camper down by the river.

Good to hear you still like fried! Post that video here too and I’ll try to keep it SPAM free… <-See what I did there?

I’ve pretty much switched to Cajun Sturdiwheat now. Since Aunt Erna and mom passed away, I can’t seem to get the salt/flour mixture right. Sturdiwheat is always right. )
