Check this out. This only covers about 4 hours earlier this morning. I had over 2 1/2″ and the local tv station not all that far away had over 4″. The airport south of here had about an inch….talk about locally heavy rain falls.

I think I heard at the 10 weather last night that the Twin Cities in some areas were dealing with 6 plus inches in a very short span of time. What ever happened to a gentle rain?

Just shy of 3″ at our place. My sump pump was cycling on every 70 seconds this morning. Friends in Olivia got doused with 10″ and had a foot of water in the basement. This has been a summer of epic downpours!!!

I had 4 3/4″ in my rain gage in Hastings. My swimming pool went from the bottom of the skimmer to over the top of it. Told my wife yesterday we should wait to add water and see how much rain we get. Good thing we waited!

First the sky was lit up with lightening, then the wind came. Sounded like a train and I told the FW we’re heading to the basement. By the time she had her matching cloths on and met me in the hallway the wind died but the ran started coming down.

Cats and dogs they say. These cats and dogs were urinating as they were coming down. About the time I said it can’t rain any harder, it did.

Power went out, we went to bed.

No power 4 am so I reported this to Xcel, the map that came up on my Iphone said there were 6 of us without power. 25x more towards Hudson.

Woke up this morning to the back yard neighbors tree being up rooted and laying on their garage. Neighbors to the North had a Spruce up rooted as well.

Pointed this out to the FW this morning and told her next time get a move on.

I don’t know how much rain we ended up with but I’m going to guess the grass seed I had down is making my neighbors lawn look even better. doah

I just checked the status of LZ and its over the no-wake mark now. More rain fell north of Rochester and inside the watershed for the lake so I look for it to go up a bit more. Then tonight our forcast might really create some issues if we see the 6+ inches they are starting to yack about.

If it’s raining cats and dog, be careful not to step in a poodle……

    (sorry about that one….)

We got about 3/8″ up here (Chisholm), but a co-worker 10 miles east of me had 2.5″. Localized heavy stuff.

    20 miles North of Rochester.
My gauge only hold 5″ and then it overflowed.
    Plainview reported 7 1/2″.

A lot more predicted for this afternoon and into the night.
    I hope they are wrong.
