From past post it seems like we have lots of members who really like music. Thought it would be fun to see what some of you think are the best remakes of songs of all time are. I’ll start with three that come to mind for me.
The Sound of Silence – Disturbed – Simon and Garfunkel
All Along the Watch Tower – Jimi Hendrix – Bob Dylan
Knocking on Heavens Door – Guns N Roses – Bob Dylan
Funny that two of mine are remakes of Bob Dylan songs
Train In Vain. Clash/Annie Lennox
Pinball Wizard. The Who/Elton John
The Man Who Sold The World. David Bowie/Nirvana
I Want You To Want Me. Cheap Trick/Dwight Yoakam
Joe Cocker – can’t find my way home
Joe did a lot of covers. Just enjoy the emotion he puts into them.
Teslas live version of Signs
Disturb- sound of silence
I like hearing both versions of Blue on Black – Kenny Wayne Shepherd and five finger death punch
Some of the best covers I’ve heard are from Zac Brown Band. Not only Zac, the entire band is so talented and at concerts a lot of them step up to the mic and do incredible covers that are not recorded and released
My favorite would probably be Simple Man when sung by Shinedown. That dude has some pipes.
Some not so mainstream covers/remakes (some are more of a cover than a remake) that I really like:
In The Air Tonight -Blacktop Mojo
Hotel California -Gipsy Kings
Ain’t No Grave -Charlie Parr (studio/record version)
Mad World – Gary Jules (live version)
Minnie the Moocher -Brothers Moving
Ain’t No Sunshine -Shawn James
That’s How Strong My Love Is -Ryan Bingham (the 11 year old studio version)
Take It Easy -Zach Bryan
There’s a band called Apocalyptica that has some awesome remakes redone with classical instruments. Their remake of Battery (Metallica) is kick ass, among others.
I also get a kick out of a band called Steve ‘n’ Seagulls, a bunch of goofballs that do rock remakes in a bluegrass style sound lol November Rain will get you started down that wormhole
Here’s the In The Air Tonight cover, the first 45 seconds is talking and bs-ing, but damn it’s damn good for some dudes nobody has ever heard of.
They have some stuff done with much higher production values, but I love this one.
