I figured my fellow fisherman would enjoy some pics of sun and open water. These are from Early Feb. I’ll be back down in early April (hopefully chasing tarpon or on Blue Water).

The Goliath was in excess of 6’ and estimated around 270#. Now I need to find his grandpa!

I look at these pics and the ones you posted in my Ft. Myers thread an this certainly looks more appealing, except for the Goliath ! I’ve been watching videos of that and I don’t know, I’m on vacation man and that looks way to much like work. My arms wold be screaming after 4 minutes with another 20-30 to go. That’s a lifetime memory though.

What part of the gulf were you in?

Those snapper and grouper make my mouth water.

Anyway, that’s far to much joy for one person. Let’s steer this ship back towards reality –

We fish out of St Petersburg near Tampa. Been using the same guy for years. Yeah, we love fresh seafood. I have a rule I only eat fresh seafood when I’m somewhere where it is caught

My mom and brothers family are in town. We rented a pontoon and went to Egmont key then around Anna Maria island.

We stopped at an old battery ruin and my brother caught a bunch of sheephead. They were delicious!

I think in the winter I need to give up wading and Target sheepshead and feel the freezer.

That’s awesome. I went on a trip to Key West last April with my Father and we had arguably the trip of a lifetime. We had planned it for over 2 years in advance. We were mostly there to target Tarpon but we caught some other fish too including barracuda, jacks, bluefish, snapper, ladyfish, and yellow tails. All of our fish were released fully alive to be caught another day. The power of those fish is incredible.

I hear ya. Makes it hard for me to get into our fresh water stuff now that I’m used to salt.
