I was just on a thread about Spring Jig fishing on Lake Erie. That one, and a version in Purple best fit some of the ones most often advised to always have along. They are saying like 1 oz, and one size smaller to really beat the bottom during a drift. I’ve never seen a jig that heavy.

Chuck,
Many of the bait shops in that area carry the weights you will need. Don’t forget black tinsel when you head out!

We used to use them up to 1 oz. on Pool 18 in the fall when fishing heavy current flows below the locks with 4″ and 6″ shad bodies. Wasn’t exactly a finesse presentation, but at times when the shad were dying the bigger walleye would be snapping in the channel and the heavy jig was the only thing you could get down and keep track of with that big body.
Wished I’d have had some on my last Erie trip to help with the over-speedy drift.(Was years ago, and our Capt. was kind of a putz).
