Thurs May 31st I fished with Jerry Gerndt and Tom Mowbray. We were able to sneak up into the shallows in Kakagon slough (havent been able to get into there since)and flyfish with poppers to bass just crashing minnows in the shallows with their backs right out of the water. Jerry expertly casted to the swirling fish and landed 8 topwater smallies and had oppurtunities at numerous others. Tom caught fish on YUM Dingers and spinnerbaits. I really appreciate these two with their confidence in me to put them on fish. Water temps in the shallows were up to 70 deg. These were the first postspawn smallies I have seen this spring.
