It is the middle of May, has anyone been out lately, would have to think there is some early season movements into the shallows, it has been cool lately, but still should be some fishing avail. thanks. Jack.

What kind of fishing were you wondering about? I was up there Fri and Sat and we caught 17 between the 2 days. Mostly cohos and lake trout.

Jack, The water temp was still only 43 degrees. It shouldn’t be long before we can catch smallies. I was up there last Memorial day and was catching them in a couple feet of water. Where do you fish up there at?, by Long Island?

we were up there most all day monday and for a while on tuesday (may 18 & 19) and yes there are smallmouths in the shallows and I’m sure they’ve been in there for a while. Depending on where we were we saw water temps from 47-51, but most of the time where we were fishing was 49-50

When is the best smallie time up there?
I have a buddy who live right on the lake close to the bay. I would like to give him a call and head on up for some great action.
Thanks for any info on this.

hey, Heywood, I’d have to say for May and June, anytime would be the right time. the more stabile the weather before you go would be helpful, a couple area isolated thunderstorms would be a plus also. have not been up there yet this year but hope to soon. keep us posted and do NOT forget your camera. Jack.
