Well the day started slow, had to move around the bay a bit to locate what we were looking for. We split the crew up and checked differnt depths and structure in the bay. First fish on the ice was a nice 5lb northern caught on 4lb test line. That was in the hole out from houghton bouy. After some moving and fishing found some perch in the 20 to 30 ft range. spent the rest of the day catching perch and got some nice smelt. Caught most of the perch on hali jigs, jigging raps, And mud bugs colors varied along with sizes. yellow and pink were good for the perch. caught the smelt on small tungsten jigs tipped with minnow heads.
