997 upgrade?

    Looking to upgrade 997 after green screen of death. Open to all brands with a $1000 limit. Currently have ipilot that is 3 yes old. Looking for a reliable and accurate system. Thanks for your ideas!

    Used to be humminbirds top of the line. Was $2000 new

    What are you parameters? Not familiar with the 997 attributes. From going to top of the line from $2000 to $1000 your going to loose something. One can get a heck of a good finder for $1000 its just the matter what you want it to do and the power it gives out.

    Smaller screen save a few $ with same platform. For the last 12 years I only ran a garmin so I have no reference to the other manufacturers in that time frame. I just upgraded to the echomap cirp 73sv.

    If you find a last years model, their out there, you can save around $150. The only difference is the transducer and you may have to update the software.

    The 997 had si di and gps. Now I can buy the same technology and screen size for half of the money. I am looking for a unit that gives me the same options but is upgradable. I really like garmins new technology but don’t want to spend 4000 on a unit

    at $1299.00 you may need a new Lakemaster Chip – your 997 is four generations old.

    If your not in a hurry, I would wait, between now and July…might find a bargain. wave

    Humminbird’s product line will stay the same the next few years…The Helix Gen2 and newly released Solix will be around for awhile…If you buy a Helix Gen2 right now you can get a free remote..
