Okay so I will show how dumb I am but…

I am finally getting this 9.9 motor in the water. On the handle is slow, start, shift and fast option…

the shift is just where i need to have it to go from forward to reverse correct?

I guess I just am looking to confirm what I think I know.

Also any idea what a motor like that is worth.

    Thanks in advance.

You want the motor running as slow as possible when you put it in gear, don’t pay attention to the sticker. Taking a gear from 0-100 rpm is tough on them not to mention 0-500 rpm.

From your post it is absolutely impossible to know what you even have to give you a price. Its like me saying “hey IDO, what is my F-150 worth?” Know what I mean?

From the mid 1980s on, the Johnsons had a shift lockout that prevented the engine from being started while in gear. This position was marked on the throttle with a shift sticker.

What it is worth depends on the year and condition.
