I have had this unit for nearly 3 years and at anything over 100 metres it is totally useless as a sounder.

I live on a small tropical island in the South Pacific and dealing with an issue like this is very difficult as there are no dealers in the country.
The unit has been back and forth to Australia and NZ but it all takes a long time.

After much time spent trying everything – and getting great co-operation from NZ technician we have been told that it is a known issue with some deep water models “software double pixels at 50 metres” .

“Hold on to your unit and await software fix.”

That was two months ago and still no fix and Humminbird do not respond to my messages.

Anyone else had anything like this?
Does anyone have one of these units being used in deep satwater?

Sorry, I’m not much help and not sure how many members here will be. Most of the IDO membership is located in the upper Midwest in the US which puts us a long way from saltwater. Also, 100+ meters translates to over 328 feet of water which is all but one lake I can think of.

That said, sometimes the members here have a surprising amount of info.

Here’s another Hbird specific forum where more obscure questions get answered. http://www.bbcboards.net/forumdisplay.php?f=133

    Good luck!
