Seriously, I know I hit Eddie Websters a few times. (That was likely before your time) There was a place or 2 down on West 7th we hit once in a while. Gallagher’s up in West Saint Paul. That was a LONG time ago.

Met my wife at Eddie Websters peanut bar. She had a apartment directly across from the old Met stadium. After a few weeks I moved in with her. On nice evenings we’d walk over to the Met and watch the Twins and drink a few Grain Belts. Good times!

Thurman’s 42Did you ever make it to Saz’s after a Brewer home opener?
Not sure if you ever made it down to Madison but back in the late 70’s through the 80’s (when I was still in my prime) I lived there.
As I’m sure you know, Madison had quite the reputation as a party town.

If my dad were still alive he’d be 84. He told me when him and my mom moved to Milwaukee back in the 50’s both coming from central Wisconsin post depression farms for factory jobs he went to Wolskis.! The old man closed Wolskis no doubt!!

Green DoorLate 70’s to mid 80’s we’d rotate between the Outrigger, Dooleys and if we wanted to actually see women would even go to La Bistro (although we never had the guts to dance). Out of boredom we’d sometimes go to The Whaler where I had my first underage Sneaky Pete. Played softball for the Pub a couple years, spilled more than a few there over time

Oh yes, the good old guiding light. Spent a ton of time in there as well as the Roxy.
The Wappy Horrior got a visit now and then too. The Outrigger was always the chick pick up spot so of course plenty of time there. Then there was the Top of the Rock in the old Holiday Inn on Broadway. We’d slip up there in our work clothes just to raise the ire of the elite or supposed elite. Lets not forget the Holliwood on Broadway and the Parrish Brothers who seemed to be stuck there playing all the time.
Lots of 3.2 pool bars back then too, too many to name but the Top Hat, 63 Club, Point After, Queen City were always busy places.
Fun times back then. Today I’ll have an occasional beer or small toss of bourbon or even a small glass of my wine with Ma, but generally I don’t drink much. Nothing like I used to.
March 29, 2020 at 1:24 pm #1928651Ha, yes the North Star.
In the 80s my uncle worked construction in Rochester and they’d always go there after work. He bought a shotgun from the trunk of a car there and still hunts deer with it to this day ! An old browning not sure on the model. But paid like 40 bucks for it

Spent many nights at Doc Holliday’s in Shakopee in the late 70’s listening to Daisy Dillman Band, Montana Starr and saw Canned Heat.
Spent time in the 80s at Bullwinkles, Blondies and Archie’s Bunker.

A bunch of us from John Marshall Class of 1980 that went on and played baseball at the community college. We played on a couple summer softball teams (RM Standard, Kemp’s) and I may have been a fill-in for the Pub team but I still had my official Pub windbreaker up until about 10 years ago..

YES, I forgot about some of those but Headliners I remember now too.
I’ve watched more college football at Camp Randall than all other places combined. We’d usually always “pregame” at the Jingles right across from the stadium.
“Postgame” we made our way back down Regent Street, both Big 10 Pub and the Retreat were mandatory stops. You’d hardly know whether the Badgers won or lost because the crowd always partied just as hard either way.
Boy, those were some fun times.
