Nissan 6hp, 2 stroke, fuel tank inside head holds about 2/3gallon, maybe 3/4 if I remember correctly.

What kind of range might a guy see on that for a 18′ fish ski boat? Just trying to get a general idea, never had a motor that small and have no clue.

    Really just there for backup.

I don’t know about the Nissan motors but the old Johnson’s and mercury ones like that would run a couple hours on a tank.

Trying to figure how far away I’d be able to get from landing if motor goes down. Probably being paranoid.

Don’t want to carry extra gas, don’t want to have it hook up to main line either though. Suppose a can of that premixed stuff might work protected away in rig somewhere.

Don;t mix the gas and oil until you need to use it , that way you can periodically cycle new gas in and burn the older up in the main motor or someplace else and have fresh gas when things go wrong

Do you already own the motor or are you planning on buying it?

I doubt you fish anywhere that that amount of gas wouldn’t get you out of trouble. All you would need to do is make it to shore or find another boat. Between your electric and the kicker you would make it.

If use are thinking Canada then throw a 2 gallon can in the boat when you head out.
