Took the boys to a gravel pit my employer owns today after work/school. We picked up 600 Agates in two hours (mostly pea to grape size) but a handful of bigger ones mixed in grin

When we got home some of our jugs were overflowing with sap.

It was a fun and busy evening enjoying the outdoors toast

The grill is lit and burgers are going on shortly, love this nice weather. Loading a few pics up in a minute

How are them little agates ever gonna grow into big ones if you harvest them so young!? jester

Sounds like a pretty awesome day. Any time I can mix some agate picking into my days, it just makes everything better!

Gonna try to flavor any of your syrup? Adding a vanilla or cinnamon stick into the jars can be pretty tasty.

I can attest to this. It gives it an amazing flavor! We usually do a gallon with the added goodies. Half a cinnamon stick and a teaspoon or 2 of vanilla per pint. You wont regret it!

Another fun outing with you and the boy. Can’t remember if you got a tumbler for those agates or not. If you don’t have one and would like some of those agents polished, let me know. I’d be more than happy to tumble them for you. Have not fired up the tumbler in awhile now.

    Thanks guys, it was fun.

Ben got a kick out of your comment Pailofperch! He laughed and said, “Dad, technically they will just be getting smaller from erosion” mrgreen

We hit the pit again today, got another 2 quarts of Agates and a lot more sap when we got home.

The vanilla/cinnamon idea sounds interesting? Never heard of that before

Fishthumper, thanks for the offer, but they have a pair tumblers waytogo

I thought in a past post you said they did. I need to get online and buy some rough material and get my tumbler back up and running.

Did the owner of the gravel pit tell you where to move the pile as you pick for agates? grin
