This is virtually new, never been fired rifle. Its a single trigger model designed for hunting without the crap catching curly cue trigger guard and also has the flat butt plate for no-snag shouldering. The trigger is a crisp 4 pounds.

The gun was originally purchased about 1982-83 as a gift for an elderly gentleman who, unfortunately only got the gun hung on his wall above a fireplace before he suddenly passed away. The gun stayed in that spot until his wife passed away years later. The kids sold the gun to a party in Michigan as the estate was cleared and they could not find the box the gun came in. The Michigan party never put so much as a primer on the nipple and when he wanted to do another gun purchase and needed some extra funding I bought this from him. I have never loaded or shot the gun, so in all rights its brand new, un-fired. I am selling it because the open sights and my eyes are not happy campers together. This gun could be scoped but I refuse to so I am letting it go.

The gun comes with the hard case shown in the picture along with the following accessories from left moving right:

*white bag contains some charge tubes good for the range or field if one pre-measures
    *a packaged .54 cal jag
    *Packaged nipple wrench
*Never been opened package of No.11 caps, Remington
*2, never been opened Red Hot replacement nipples
*a package with some sample bullets and appropriate sabots, about five of each three styles
*a package of premeasured T7 powder charges or various weights
*un-opened package of 50 sabots for loading .45 cal [.451-.452] bullets
*un-opened package of sabots for loading .50 cal [.500] bullets
    * roughly 1/2 pound of Triple 7 FFG powder
*one full box of 50, .50 caliber, 300 grain, Hornady XTP bullets

All finishes on this gun are immaculate and zero rust anywhere. Any and all interested parties should pm me with questions.
I will sell this only to face to face people and will not ship. I will provide a bill of sale. Selling price for this entire, ready to shoot, package is $350.00. Will take a check, but green is preferred. Phone number can be given in pm only.

    Thanks for looking.

    Ah, this brings back memories!

I had a .54 Renegade back in the ’70’s just before the “safe” black powder came out.
I don’t recall how much powder I would dump down the barrel, but using a heavy sabot, it would knock my glasses off or if squatting, tip me over backwards.

Of course it could be loaded with a more friendly load but what fun is that??

I used it for deer hunting a couple times before there was a muzzle loaders season. Never pointed it at a deer but it did take down a few trees. )

    Great gun!

My first Renegade as a .54 but had the brass buttplate with the hooked buttplate ends and the trigger guard that had the brush catching finger hook. My pet bullet was a Buffalo Maxi that weighed 534 grains and had a hollow point and a hollow base. I pushed it with 110 grains of FFFg black powder. That sucker kicked. It did a number on deer too. Several deer in fact. Mostly bucks.

The current gun for sale if shot with the sabots and bullets provided has a mild recoil with 90 to 100 grains of that T7 powder. A friend has one
identical to this and I have shot his with these bullets and loads many times and the recoil isn’t the least bit bothersome.

I’d like to see this one go to someone who will use it and enjoy it. The Renegade is one super nice conventional sidelock weapon.

Great smokepole for hunting. I have a .50 or I might be interested. Old school fun, reliable, and accurate.

    That was the asskicker!!

I didn’t mean to scare anyone away. Like Tom said it doesn’t have to be loaded to kick like a mule…but it can be if you wish!

Most all of my friends ran with .50’s. Most all wished they would of bought the .54 once shooting it. For target or deer.

    ….if I was half a decade younger….
