The one thing we should fear the most is when they start provoking law enforcement to shoot on purpose to prove some kind of point. This will happen, I’m sure of it. If it hasn’t already.

I know you would just as soon send the national guard to the 4th street station and lock them all up
I would stand behind a mayor who made that statement. Break the law during a protest and you go to jail.

November 17, 2015 at 6:51 pm #1577822Just to clarify ……who called the Feds in, Mayor or Chief of Police?
November 17, 2015 at 7:32 pm #1577829Thanks, for some reason I thought it was the chief. You’re position makes more sense now.
November 17, 2015 at 7:44 pm #1577831personally I think she made the right decision. no conflict of interest and as someone stated earlier, if her dept did the investigation and found the cops innocent I think there would be a riot!!
Tom SawvellInactivePosts: 9559November 17, 2015 at 8:16 pm #1577833” if her dept did the investigation and found the cops innocent I think there would be a riot!!”…..Glenn
I think a riot is possible regardless of who makes what call. These aren’t people looking for an answer, they’re a bunch of waste that seeks only trouble.

MPD called in the BCA right away to do the independent investigation. Like Tom said a riot will probably happen regardless of who does the investigation. Look at Baltimore, some people are just looking for any excuse to cause trouble.
November 17, 2015 at 8:31 pm #1577836yea after thinking it over I agree. I still feel however she made the right call having an outside agency do the investigation. and still no words or support for the lady this guy supposedly pummeled! had they not been called to this we’d be talking more about da packers and vikes this weekend!

Wrong! Mayor called in the Feds.

Mpls. Mayor Asks for Fed. Investigation into Officer-Involved Shooting
Created: 11/16/2015 5:26 AM KSTP.com
By: Jennie Lissarrague
Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges is asking the U.S. Attorney’s Office to open a civil rights investigation into this weekend’s officer-involved shooting of a black man.
Hodges says she has confidence in investigators within the department and with the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension but that the city needs “all the tools we have available to us.”Personally, looks like the Mayor has zero confidence in her Police Dept. Great position to put the entire force in. Nice job.

November 17, 2015 at 8:35 pm #1577840And convict them rather than dropping charges as they have in the past.

Absolutely! X 2
November 17, 2015 at 8:39 pm #1577842“Mayor Betsy Hodges has requested a federal civil rights investigation in addition to the state investigation already underway.”
This was a day after BCA was called the way I read it.
November 17, 2015 at 8:42 pm #1577844The mayor made that statement in a news conference hours after the shooting. I watched it live.

November 17, 2015 at 8:47 pm #1577845and lets not forget….. I’m sure the police chief has the utmost respect for her boss.
November 17, 2015 at 8:50 pm #1577846I’ll have to believe you. I live south of you and only learned about it long after the fact. Stay safe up there.

Take a breath.
Oh! I would like to acknowledge IDO for what it is and who they are. A family that cares no matter the views.
My man card is still strong.November 18, 2015 at 8:48 am #1577916If they dont like the police and they dont want there protesting to be covered by the so called white media, the next time they block a freeway the police and news cameras should stay away and let whatever happens on the freeway stay on the freeway. I promise I will give a warning honk before I plow through them all.

kind of reminds me of that scene in the blues brothers where the nazis take a dive off of the bridge.
stay safe everyone.
November 18, 2015 at 10:27 am #1577958on the KQRS morning show some attorney called in. at first it was a pretty decent conversation but as they moved forward and Banard pushed she got pretty defense. would only be willing to discuss her agenda topics.
again what rattles my cage about this whole thing is nothing is ever brought up about how the woman he assaulted is doing OR the fact that these police were simply responding to an assault call. had he not did this there would be nothing. did someone die, yea, it sucks, shouldn’t happen.
I have no issues with the black lives matter except how they operate in getting there message out.
3 black men have been accused in a robbery and rape and nothing? wheres black lives matter now???????
November 18, 2015 at 10:33 am #1577962Maybe 100 of us should show up with a banner that says……….The law matters.
Don’t worry, as soon as it gets cold they will go to a mall.

That is a misleading statement as one only needs to be 51% angus to be angus.
November 18, 2015 at 4:03 pm #1578055Listening to KSTP radio and they are saying the protesters are throwing rocks & bottles. This comes after the cops put the bon fire out.
I knew they would start burning stuff to keep warm, I just hope they don’t start innocent businesses on fire like Ferguson.
November 18, 2015 at 4:12 pm #1578056I see jamar Clark was not handcuffed and trying to disarm an officer. According to Fox news. Bring out the fire trucks and clean the streets.

Mike I heard the same thing although I wouldn’t believe Fox. They have the right to protest and as long as they do it peacefully they can. However, there is a line and if they cross it I fully expect the Mpls. cops to do there jobs and fill the jails. As for the fire trucks……I think they used them to put the fire out in the street.
hl&sinkerInactivenorth fowlPosts: 605November 18, 2015 at 6:17 pm #1578077From my uderstanding the struggle for the gun was a report from the police union not an offical announcement from the BCA or the police department. I’m not saying it accurate or not but I think its odd the police union is the ones reporting this or is the police union an offical spokesentity for the police department?
Also it seems a struggle for an officers gun instances are on the rise. Maybe training could be better on this so that the result wont be shooting the perpetrator in the head.castle-rock-clownPosts: 2596November 18, 2015 at 6:49 pm #1578088Back when I was in my fiftys I was riding a bus down south when this black lady got on and apparently sat in the wrong seat. They called the cops on her, I think she said her name was Rosa Parks.
November 18, 2015 at 9:13 pm #1578121Smoking dope in the vestibule of a police station? How frickin’ dumb are these people? Lock ’em up and charge them with stupidity.
