If anyone is down that way today or tomorrow let me know how the water clarity is…..with the hard rain yesterday I’m wondering if it got real dirty again.

I’m taking Friday off and plan on being down there unless the water is like pea soup again.

Honestly, not sure it can get much dirtier. The last few trips it’s been around 6″.

I’ll be taking a sechi tube reading for the MPCA tonight like I always do when I’m out, but I don’t think I’ll be that far down. Will let you know if I that changes.

If its been that dirty consistently I’m not too worried about it. It was like a milkshake when I was down there a few weeks ago.

I put in at Willie’s Hidden Harbor which is a few miles downstream of the 494 ramp late Wednesday afternoon and the water clarity seemed “typical” in the channel. I certainly would not say it looked muddy. I did not see any logs or other debris floating in the channel. I did not fish so I can’t comment on the bite.

It did rain hard on Tuesday evening but the ground was pretty dry so most of it probably was absorbed. The river forecast at St. Paul shows a continued, slow drop.

    Good Luck

Thanks – I’ll be out tomorrow from early AM until mid-afternoon. I’ll post a report afterwards.

If anyone is out you’ll see me in a bronze/silver Reata with a 175 Yamaha and a talon. Flag me down.

I saw a drop in clarity of only 6cm ok the upper pool after the rain, but a huge influx of debris in the water. Plastic, trash, logs, etc.

Good luck out there today Matt.

Clarity seemed about normal to me. Water is lowest I’ve seen it down there in awhile. Watched a guy bobber fishing at the launch catch about a 28” walleye as I was launching. That was pretty fun.

Fish were on dams pretty shallow this morning. Definitely moved deeper with the high skies and sun. Caught all fish trolling or pitching cranks. Good day….no real big fish but a handful in the lower 20’s.

I think the fishing is only going to get better. Setting up for a great fall!
