Blue/white/pink fireball jig, fathead minnows. My dad and myself lost track of fish after 20 or so. Half shorts, other half in that 17-20 range, biggest 22″, most caught in 3-6′.

Males seem to be moving up well. How far off you fellas think them big females are, couple weeks? All bellies were nice and firm yet. Couldn’t get anything to pop on plastics. Got a real nice buffalo on a worm, highlight of the day for me toast

What was the water temp? Last weekend I caught a bunch of males but they were deep….16 to 20 ft. If they are shallow I would assume the females are close behind. Get the water in the low 40s for a week or so and they might start moving in.

47-48 I believe. Honestly didn’t pay much attention, have the gauge bookmarked on my browser and pretty true to that.

Lots of lil guys deep, but they were all shorts for us, mark em easily enough too. Shallow water equals active for me, and usually better quality.

That seems like it has warmed up quick. I’m trying to get a day out of the office this week to try and target some larger fish. Shallow slack water should have some larger fish starting to stack up in it.

If I get out this week I’ll post a report.

Folks were stacked at the dam and stacked at the confluence. They left me alone on the entire stretch in between and found some nice fish (nothing huge, but all 18-20″ some females) on cranks in the fast and slow water. There are lots of pockets in some stretches that hold fish that aren’t exactly slack waters too. The current isn’t moving fast enough right now to blow these spots out.

I get being up at the dam but I never have much luck at the Confluence. I might motor through and try to mark fish but I rarely fish it anymore. There is so much water and so many spots between the dam and downtown to fish. All kinds of different current, structure, depths, wood, etc. Funny how people tend to follow the crowds wherever you fish.

Too much river, not enough time.

Anyone get out today? Would have been a perfect day to be out there.

I’m taking Thursday off to get out there. I’ll post a report afterwards. Going to try and target some larger fish in shallow water.

Any chance that I have in the next couple weeks I’m fishing. Have a feeling this year that piggie window will be fast and furious.

Good luck to all getting out peace

I was talking to a customer in Columbia today. Apparently many South American countries get the whole week off for Easter. All I could think of was how much fishing I could get in with a week off right now.

Good luck out there. I have a 17′ white Lund with a 90HP Johnson and Talon on the back. If anyone is out there swing by and say hi. I usually have an extra beer in the cooler.
