The pelvic fins were glued on. So cheated a little to save time. The rest are pretty easy to leave into the carving.. I shave them flat with the chainsaw and use a die grinder to run the spine rays into the fins.. Burn it and brush the ash of with a carbon brush…
It actually goes very fast. This one does not have much for detail and was in soft wood.. Hardwoods like oak and walnut take much longer. I have a few pieces of walnut drying right now that will be killer once done..
This is what oak looks like when burnt.. Much cooler detail. Next walleye will for sure be done with a hardwood. Pine was good for practice but way too soft to get good detail.
