410 clean up

A friend asked me to clean up an old 410 shotgun. I know how to clean it inside, but what about some rust on the barrel,etc

Emory cloth and oil.

You want to use super fine emory cloth.

I had a badly rusted barrel and used OOO steel wool dry or oil. It’s more gentle than emery cloth.

Yes and rub lightly. I revived a old 870 this way. Don’t sand it heavily but rub oil in to it lightly.
Just double triple quadruple check the inside of the barrel as well. If that out side is rusted that inside is most likely as well

I ended up doing a complete overhaul. Turned out good.

Can’t make this site do pics,etc. The gun turned out better than new. I was proud of myself, as this was my first try at this.

Good job bud. Looks nice. Only thing I recommend is to double triple check the inside of the barrel is clean. If the exterior is rusted the inside probably looks similar. But you did good work giving the 410 a make over.
