Bit chilly here in the Falls this morning. At this rate ice out will be around July 12th on Rainy. Sure is a change from last years mild winter. Being North everything like that climate change thing takes longer to get to us.
Stay warm.

Dutchy, I’ll admit that I don’t know what I don’t know. Is building construction much different up there, are utilities buried 10-12′ (or deeper)?
I guess I’m curious what you’ve observed that may take what some of us would consider “extreme” weather into account.

Terry, when we did the sewer & water lines for the camper a few years back I think we went 5′ deep? I can’t swear to that, one of the construction guys here will know.
Looking at the 10 day forecast this looks like the last of the really cold nights for a while, I hope so anyway.

Just checked. We’re all good to go!
The largeys and the snot rockets are verocious today!
my wife’s parents grew up in that area…….no POP…… i’m not asking what lake your fishing, but i have fished lake marian and dead lake!!!
Dutch I think you need to look into adding a sauna to the property. And POP looks like you’re having a good day! Smart to have the venting on the fish house too, can never be too safe w/ Carbon Monoxide!
A friend of mine used to do Utility construction around Alexandria, said he has seen frost close to 10ft down under roads since they are always plowed, ditches dont get as deep of frost normally with the snow cover
I would hope water and sewer lines are buried deep up there! I think they are normally 6ft+ down in southern WI
A few years ago up here by Walker, my water froze, the water line was 10 ft deep, frost went 10 ft down, it was in a spot where there was little or no snow cover along a road. Bad, did not thaw out till the first week of June. I always cover areas of concern with insulation blankets and straw, just in case the snow does not fly

That made me giggle but took me ten minutes to realize why.

Them damn mice! I had an entire box of softener sheets spread through that house and the cover on and then little pricks made nests in there!
I had the best luck with Irish Spring soap bars. But yeah they suck, they got my one man a couple years ago.
I had one (or more) of those monkeybutts eat my Emergency Twinkies last fall.
Must of killed him ’cause no sign of him since.
