Anyone have experience with HB 360? I hope it won’t become obsolete with the live scope coming out. It looks pretty helpful. It might drop in price with the live scope coming out. I have a Gen 2 mega si unit now. It’s not compatible with 360, and I assume live scope either. As much as technology changes, things are old quickly. My Lowrance HDS was pretty nice 3 yrs ago. Anyway, any thoughts on the 360 for open water. Thanks. I’m sure the ice will be off in a couple weeks.

Screw all that high tech crap, I’m sticking with my humminbird ice 35 flasher.

Tell me about it. A 2014 Lowrance HDS 7 in perfect condition is basically scrap now. And now my upgrade for it, a 2018 HDS Carbon with total scan transducer is becoming more useless by the day it seems.

Here is an option to keep you up to date Gim. Replace the HDS 7 with a live 7 and network to carbon. It will turn you carbon into a live with a little slower processor.
Total scan was not that great IMHO.February 4, 2021 at 11:56 am #2012104Useless Nah! Still maps the same still has same 2d sonar.

Total scan was not that great IMHO.Is that right? So I need a Live transducer instead of the Totalscan ducer?
February 4, 2021 at 3:57 pm #2012182360 imaging and live are different technologies for different purposes in my opinion. 360 / side imaging works better for marking fish close to, or on the bottom. It also works better when searching for transitions and structure. Live isn’t replacing side imaging or 360, it’s just another tool that’s better suited for finding fish off the bottom and seeing how they react to different baits and presentations.
February 4, 2021 at 9:47 pm #2012277I’m still considering the 360. I saw Gary Klein on Midwest Outdoors last week. (I watched IDO first) He had the Lowrance live scope. Looked like a video game. At the same time, I stare at a vexilar all winter. I don’t know if I want to do the same in the Summer.

No…well depends what you are trying to do. Total scan is just an all in one ducer. 2d SI DI. Live is version one of panoptix. Basically live imaging with 2d pixels. Also the name of last years units. Compatible with Carbon units. Active imaging will be livescope that we here about with Garmin and what bird has this spring with there live version. Yet to see much good footage of this yet. Pm me or start a new thread on Lowrance, don’t want to make this one more confusing for the OP.
I agree with Pat though. Give me good side imaging and I have all the information I need. I’m sure there will be boats rigged this spring with Mega 360 and there live ducer as well. That set up with a 9 or 12 inch unit will be more than a few mortgage payments for most.
February 7, 2021 at 9:34 pm #2013095Well, maybe I’ll just swap out my HDS in the bow for a HB that is compatible with 360 and the new HB live scope version. Maybe in the future there will be a version that has 360, live scope, and FSNorth all in one.
