30 inch pool 2 walleye

Has anyone ever caught one? Besides buschman and I’m sure Steve Dezurik before he retired from pool 2 walleye fishing forever to chase smallmouth on the upper miss (an easy decision) I can’t say I know anyone that has. Here’s a couple from 2015 over 10 pounds but under 30 inches.

I caught one once 29 3/4″ that was over 11 lbs…Does that count?

I remember trying to land that thing all by myself fighting both the fish, current, and wind.

My buddy got a 30.5 x 20.5 girth at the confluence 5 years ago or so.

You see a lot more 30+ inch fish caught in post spawn (may-june) than we have in the fall. Also the days of over 30’s are a memory the last couple years.

2011-2012 were amazing!!! Even years before that there was some big fish but the last couple years it seems to be a challenge to find fish over 28″. Even a 28 is a awesome fish when they have a winter belly on like the one Ken has pictured.

I guess what I believe is that we just do not have the year classes of big fish the last couple years. They are in there and everyone has a chance at a 30+ any day but like any cycle we have been on the down side the last couple years and should get better as all these mid 20 inch fish mature.

I have caught a few that were close and one that I could not measure that had to be real close if not over. They are out there; but I agree with Joe that the numbers are down currently.
