7’6″ med heavy rod, Abu ambassador round bait caster, 50lb Power Pro braid main line, 3 way swivel, 3′ dropper 8lb mono to 3oz. egg sinker, 7′ 8lb flouro to cross lock swivel to no. 11 floating Rapala. This should getting me trolling that rap a couple feet off bottom, no? All constructive feedback welcome…

Also, the body of water I am fishing is a western ND reservoir that has a good population of walleye, water temp is about 64 degrees (give or take +/- 2 degrees)

Would this be a decent tactic to pursue at this time of year with that type of lake and those water temps…?

Sounds about right, I would play with the leader/dropper. I like a 12-15inch dropper with 3-4ft lead on stick bait. Depends on where the fish are relating to the bottom. I use it in a river system with good current. I have been trying the jig/plastic (dropper) with a worm on three way. Check out Tommy Skarlis video.

If u have good clarity, and some current sounds like you are on your way! If clarity is poor I would shorten up those leads and drops a tad-👍. If it was me, and every body of water is different, but I would give it another 10 degrees of dropping before pulling that. Flatline, or pull leadcore with regular shads until fish tell you it’s too much. Might be surprised how long you can get away with what I have mentioned 😉🎣

Right on guys, appreciate the feedback immensely. I’ve mainly just been fishing shorelines this summer for smallest, white bass, and northern. Need to figure out the nuances if probing deeper trying to find those marble eyes…

    Keep it coming…
