Having multiple panfish set ups I like using 3 lb line on most of them but I want to get away from the small rolls of “ice line” they ding you several $$$ for. What are you guys using in a more bulk type roll in 3 lb?

Stren orignal. Clear or yellow your preference.

For panfishing I only put on 30 feet of line on top of a almost full spool of Orig. Stren. Then change it out as needed.

I buy bigger spools of p line flouroclear instead of the flouroice. Seems like the same stuff.

+1 on P line-less freeze ups, supple, more abrasion resistant than mono.

Suffix Ice Magic you can get in 300 yd spools i use the 3 lb. But I was thinking of trying the Pline this year. I like the suffix though been real good for me. I don’t change my line though every year.

Buy the regular filler spool. I personally don’t change my line that often just due to cost. However I also found out that certain lines lasts way longer than others. Now there’s a lot to due with wear and tear from equipment form reel to rod, mainly speaking about line guides.

I use the 300 yd spool of Suffix Ice Magic. It seems to be the best bang for your buck.

Anything less than 4# line is for folks that like tying knots and swearing. JMHO

a little advice for lite line anglers is to learn how to sand the steel washers in the reel drags and then do not over tighten the drag.
Once you do that fishing is a whole lot more fun.

I say anything over 2# is for guys that like coiled line and can’t finesse a big fish to the hole. wink

I’m kidding around but I only use 2lb line for panfish and bet I lose less than 4 jigs most years.

Does anybody have a good source for bulk 2 lb colored line? Never did get used to clear ice line and catch rate seems just fine with colored mono or co poly lines.

I said that kidding around too. I actually admire fisherman that can use the 2# line. I think there are way too many that read these boards and have no idea how to use or tie it but think they need to use it. I do have 3# on one combo but for the most part I’m just to old to screw around with it, or see it for that matter.

P-Line Floroclear. Pretty sure the exact same line as their Floro-Ice. Works great, very strong.
