The walleye fishing was slower this week then last but still pretty decent fishing. Monday was my slowest day but it got better thru out the week. I was seeing less keepers this week till Sunday, and we were able to get a limit but the slot fish remain to bite well. We have been seeing from 10 to 15 eyes per 4 hour trip. I have fished both deeper water and shallow flats with both areas giving up eyes. Leeches have been a little better then crawlers but both will work. I have been plain hook rigging either. The end of the week’s full moon provided better late morning bites then early. All week I had just morning trips and the later part of my mornings were best. This will change though in the upcoming week.

Tips for lindy rigging: This last week I fished 6 mornings and dealt with some finicky walleyes. Some bites would not materialize into fish in the boat. Fish would take the bait but if they felt any resistance from the angler before releasing the line to feed them they would spit the bait out. With fish belly’s being full of hatch and feeding heavy ay night with the full moon you had to be quick to detect a bite and feed them line. Lindy rig fishing is very finesse and you have to be able to feel the slightest pick-up and feed line immediately.

I received an email late last week from a local on Leech that was having a heck of a time staying on fish and was looking for some direction. You’ve obviously got a good handle on it… I think I might have to send him your way…[wink]
