Got out fishing Friday night. Local interior river, high from the rain in Northeast Iowa. Found a nice current break and went to work. Rod and reel was a 6’10” Legend Elite teamed up with my old faithful Shimano CI4. Pitching a 3/32nd oz jig and a white fluke Jr. Caught a limit of eaters, a nice northern, two slab crappies and 15 smaller walleyes between 10″-13″. Was pitch black and my buddy had to go and I said let’s give it five more casts. On the fourth cast this guy slapped my jig. Knew it was nice, but didn’t think I had a 28.5″ fish on my line, couldn’t believe it when my buddy slid the net under her. Anyway, thing to be learned is don’t let adverse conditions deter you from fishing. The river I was fishing, the Wapsi, was roaring. I just looked for the one spot the fish could be, and that’s where they were. Good luck and tight lines!
