Whats everyone using for their 20′ Boats? 24 or 36 Volt trolling motors. Just wondering if adding the weight of an additional battery for 36v is worth it?

My experience with a 175 t-pro tiller was the upgrade to a 36 volt being one of the best things I did for my style of fishing.

If you did it I don’t this you’d second guess it for a second. Going with the 24 volt I think you will be second guessing the decision from time to time if you are a troller.

I’ve got a 205 tiller and have the 36V Ultrex and it works great. Most of the time you don’t ‘need’ the extra power, but when trying to fish a spot in big waves, the extra power is worth having.

Consider weight of boat, where you fish, how you fish, and if you have a kicker. Had 36 on previous two boats but went to 24 on 1875 Impact I have now. I fish the Miss R sometimes strong current and get by fine with two ā€œ31ā€ AGMs. For 6 hrs trolling or more I use kicker for 60 to 75 percent of thrust and TM to steer. 36 adds a lot of weight and cost for TM, on board charger, and batteries. On a 20ft. Glass Iā€™d lean towards the 36 to cover all bases.
