How long has the gas pump at the Saint Paul Yacht Club been a 24-hour, self service pay at the pump deal? I’ve ran past that dock dozens of times over the past few years and it never seemed to be “open.” I got close enough last night to read the signs and was kind of floored. I spend a lot of nights on the river and I’ve always lugged my own fuel along. I’m sure this pump is $$ (91 octane only), but good to know it’s there for those nights when making one more stop for gas on the way to the launch is the last thing I want to do.

Generally fuel on the river is $1 more then the stations I’ve found.

I wonder how they can have a self serve on the river with all the pollution concern. Not that I’m against it…on the contrary.

That’s how a diet of Hamms and Corn Nuts works its magic.

I had the same questions, but like you I’m all for the easy access to the pump so I’m certainly not going to press the issue. I’ll do my part to handle the fuel responsibly and hope others do the same.

I have kids 10 and 7 so I’m always struggling to get out the door to go fishing. Being able to skip the stop at the gas station is a pretty big deal for me and I’ll gladly pay the extra $6 for the fill. Just need to stock up on 2-stroke oil and keep it in the boat.

I tape the top of a quart closed with electrical tape. I check that dang oil every fill up but there’s always 1 or 2 times per year the alarm goes off.

Do you tape the bottle off just to avoid any seepage/leaks in the boat?

I rely on the alarm in my brain that says “if you want this outboard to work 20 minutes from now you better mix in 16 oz of blue stuff for every 6 gallons of clear stuff.” jester
