Interesting tid bit at the end there about not allowing harvest of eelpout on the pond this winter.

No big surprise they picked the same year class again for harvesting, Sure would be nice if they could just limit us to the 1 fish but our choice on size. That way that opens up a wider array of age classes to have a few fish harvested from, but I know that can never happen with the quota we have to stay under and no way for the dnr to “accurately guess” the harvest.

Red will be fun again as usual, hoping to be there first weekend of December if the ice Gods bless us.

Ironically the quota isn’t set for 2022 yet. Never is before the season starts. whistling

What, so then are they gonna close the season early on red this year? Or implement C&R partway through?

I just am kinda shocked at this after what I saw out there last season for pressure

I agree LabDaddy. I would’ve been just fine seeing URL left at 3 fish. It clearly didn’t impact anyone’s desire to go there last year. There’s nothing wrong with being proactive versus reactive…unless of course you’re the MNDNR.

Very surprised to see the increase for Red. I expected the limits to keep trending downward based on the insane fishing pressure these big lakes have seen in recent years.
