Anyone run this 21ft tiller from Alumacraft? Likes and/ or dislikes? Sounds like most are powering it with a 115, but I have reservations about that size engine on that big of a boat. I know why some do though if they refuse to run Mercs with power steering.

Any insight if a dealer will have one at the Sportshow this weekend?

Call LaCannes in Faribault and see if they have one.

Stick with your Pro Guide, Trev. Once you’ve ridden in that Lund, no Alumacraft is going to make you happy. They’re way too wet of a ride.

Talked to them, they don’t have one right now.

Well, I sold my 2010 pro guide, so I’m looking at options. No experience with Alumacraft, and don’t know anyone that has run the 205. Hoping there is one at the Sportshow so I can crawl around in one.

Jimmy Bell just posted on FB “Busy afternoon moving Alumacraft Boats into the Northwest Sportshow. Have the Comp 205 all cleaned up and ready to show off.”

    That one’s not a tiller.

I didn’t notice a 205 tiller at the show when Alumacraft was setting up, but maybe I missed it. A great motor for that boat is a 150 Mercury 4 stroke.

Love the boat, however I buy boats like some women buy shoes. grin If I sold this one I would just replace it with another glass boat. Otherwise i’ll run this one for years to come.

The Mercury 115 is really the only way to go on this boat with the anti-feedback handle. Why spend the extra money on a 150 when you only gain 35 HP, you add 100 LBS in motor weight, and add battery and power steering weight? Then you should get a 200, too bad Mercury doesn’t have a naturally aspirated engine in that size. Been in these boats with 115 and 150’s, really no difference, and the 115 with three men and a full tank of gas is just fine, plus you have better trollability.

Call Frank at Rock River Marina in Edgerton, WI at 608-884-9415, they have a 205 tiller with a 115 command thrust and anti-feedback handle in stock and you can try it out at their location.

Great motor but the extra 35 HP isn’t worth the extra 100 LBS in motor weight plus the battery and power steering weight and extra price you pay for it. Stick with the 115.
