Sorry didn’t really get too many pictures this year rain ,rain and more rain. Sunday morning we did have some snow which i would rather have. Was a great hunt even with the weather going on actually took both my birds from a blind this year which saved my butt from the all dang rain. Not sure the last time I took all my birds from a blind with my bow been a bit. Bird numbers are down and see why they went from 3 birds to 2 and now you cannot take both birds same day has to be one a day. My dad now 74 still getting it done I just have to setup his blind and take in and out which is fun for me. He was able to take a 19lb jake after taking feathers off a Tom earlier the first morning.I was able to take a 18lb jake first morning Sunday. Had so many jakes around me right off the roost I had to put in arrow in one of those gobbling fools.Tuesday morning rain was coming down so hard I stayed in till around 6am when it lighted up I got into the blind just before fly down time. Took most the morning but one lonely bird could not take the heartbreaker and volunteered for a trip to MN. 22.5 full eastern with 1 3/8 spurs. He would only respond to the box call which is my go to. He didn’t respond to anything else. So quick and 2025 NE is already over. Our land owners are such great people just turned 94 and 92 but just keep going. I think they were still milking cows into their 80s and decided it was time to retire LOl.The birds sure were responding to calling really well. Very few hens around that we saw Tags are getting spendy but now it’s more about going and spending time with all the people we friended there. Few dinners in camp with some and cook dinner for the land owners at their place for them. Time for MN in a couple weeks.

Nice job Hoyt! Even cooler that your dad is still going with you. Fun memories.

Thanks. I will be bringing him as long as he wants to keep hunting. I know it’s a little harder on his back drawing his bow but he says he only needs to shoot once LOL.

Are those merriams or hybrids? Good stuff.

The Jake was hybrid with Rio or Merriam. The picture with me and the bird is full eastern. Most the birds arew hybrids but you will find some Merriams still and even Rio’s. When you see those white tip fans it stands out from the others even more then the mixed birds.

Congrats on your birds. Are still marking your kills on the Heartbreaker or did you run out of room?
