Just remember. Joe Mauer never won a single playoff game.

Correa RBI single Twins lead 2-1. Buxton & Correa both single in the same inning…..is that a first this year?

Correa removed while hitting in the 5th, hurt left wrist. Lee in to play third, Castro moves to shortstop.. Twins lead 4-2. Lots of empty seats. applause

I was just thinking today how few Twins caps you see guys wearing out and about. For so long, it’s all you would see. Now, I only see them when going to the game. There was so much pride and everyone would follow. But this is also back when it was easier to watch the games, too.

Just a sad deal. I went to Opening Day and walked away just kind of disgusted. People are there for the expensive food and drinks and not for the game. And I can’t blame them, either. It all just seems so forced to sit there and watch it.

The star tribune reported today that the paid attendance on Monday at Target Field was the lowest it’s ever had: 10,240 fans.

At no point in 15 years of existence (other than the pandemic restricted seasons) until yesterday against the Mets has Target Field ever had below 11,000 fans for a game. So in terms of attendance, this is a new rock bottom.

The weather sucked. It was drizzly and cold. And it was a Monday. So there’s that.

Looks like a few more are there tonight. But not much more. ???

Twins are running a little bit tonight but otherwise they play a boring style of baseball. 10,000 fans are about 5,000 more than the Pohlads deserve.

Saw it was on Fox 9 and I watched about as much as I could handle. It’s been so long since I’ve been able to visually engage and I just don’t feel any connection to the team or players anymore. Didn’t know who most of them were.

Still, it felt a bit nostalgic to have it on in the background… I can’t remember – How many games are they doing on Fox 9 this year?

I legitimately wouldn’t know how to watch a Twins game on the TV no matter how hard I tried despite living in MN. We stream everything through Hulu and have the highest available package and they’re still never on.

The MLB’s platform and overall product just isn’t geared towards todays audiences. The NFL and NBA have left the MLB in the dust in most measures of viewership/following/ratings.

A family friend of ours is married to the lead marketer for the Saints. I’d pay double for a ticket to a Saints game before going to a Twins game.

Our family has gone to two saints games already this year. Great ballpark to take kids to and its better baseball to watch. Typically high scoring and they have plenty of high end prospects to watch, a few who will be in the starting lineup with the big club maybe even at some point this year. And you get to hear a crazy Japanese guy cover classic songs in between innings where half the crowd doesn’t understand that it’s a bit, which makes it even more hilarious. That guy kills me.

We went Sunday and sat on the grass berm in left field for $5 each. It was great.

The Twins are getting what they deserve this year. The team is boring, the play is boring, the manager is an idiot, and they didn’t put anything into the team or stadium over the off season. What did you expect.

Saw that it was not only the smallest crowd of the Target field era, but the smallest since 2002. Weather was bad but a pretty marquee opponent in the Mets, I think the fan base is definitely getting tired of the same old.

Many of the fans there were also Mets fans.

How many games are they doing on Fox 9 this year?

I was in the same situation as you, I had it on because it was on actual TV that real people might get, and mainly because I want to keep my young boys actively interested in baseball.

To answer your question, a week ago they announced a lineup of 10 games (including last night) that will be broadcast on TV. Remaining ones are:

    April 22
    May 6
    May 20
    June 24
    July 9
    July 29
    August 12
    August 19
    September 2.

All games except the August 12 are 6:40, Aug 12 is 6:05. (That’s one thing I will say the Twins are doing right. A few years ago they started weeknight games at 6:40 because they can go so late on school/work nights, and this year they’re continuing that even in the summer when kids aren’t in school I think that’s great).

I have that schedule printed out because as much as I feel the same as most of you about the organization, it’s exposure for my kids and their only chance to see their team in big league ball.

Bud Grant never won a Super Bowl.

Bud Grant made it to the final game/series twice as many times as the Twins have waytogo tongue

Saints, Northwoods League and Townball are great options for cheap baseball entertainment. And for the Dads, if your local youth league isn’t partnering up with the townball team for a Youth Game or two you are missing the boat!

Don’t trust me. Get them interested in any other sport besides baseball.

I agree Big Worm we spend a little money watching local teams such as the St.Cloud Rox and make it out to quiet a few amateur games. Avon has made some nice improvements over the last few years.

That has been a great ballpark for years, and the squad isn’t too bad either, usually finished right behind the Steve’s!!! rotflol (and in all fairness I think that only applied to a brief period of time from about 2006-2012)

Go watch your local high school teams. That’s the game that 99.99999999% of kids will strive to be a part of and ultimately be their pinacle of baseball involvement.

Our local coach is so awesome with bringing in 3-4 varsity kids every weekend to work cages with the youth program, and he invites a pair of kids per game into the varsity dugout for home games. It isn’t always about the money spent. Sure the Twins “stars” are wordly talents…but you’d be surprised how excited it makes an 8 year old kid to go bump fists with your town’s varsity players and watch them play. Not all heroes have to be on TV.

Twins give up 5 in the bottom of the 8th and lose to Atlanta 6-4. Paddack was very good, bullpen not so much.
