Opening day in 2 days. What’s your prediction when the team actually sells. What’s your prediction for the season? Better or worse than last year?

They are already getting hurt. I think they’ll be able to compete, it will come down to how many of them get hurt, and we all know what that answer is going to be.

The Twins have become the least relevant pro team in Minnesota. The Perpetual mediocrity and ownership that does nothing to excite the fan base. Plus, the TV contracts are a mess so seeing them on TV is almost impossible.

Worse, they did nothing to improve the team and major pieces are already banged up.

As for the sale, it will never happen unless they face reality. And the reality apparently is, they ran up a tab on the golden goose the last 5 years. And the guy responsible for it wants to stay on after the sale to keep running the team. These people are beyond delusional. No one is paying more because the Pohlad idiots ran up the debt. And no one is paying that kind of money to keep the Jim Pohlad stink around the organization.

Heard on the radio this morning that part of the reason they were so tight with money these past few years, even when the team showed promise, was all the debt they were in. Sucks that their financial decisions in their other business ventures caused their hobby of owning a pro baseball team to suffer.

How long is Lewis supposed to be out?

Them being in debt really blew my mind, I know they are expanding their business ventures far and wide, but this still caught me by surprise. Them selling at a large discount due to the debt they incurred to fund other projects would be the ultimate in irony for an empire founded on banking. Has anyone come across articles digging into the origin of this debt? We know it’s not from baseball operations or on field salary.

If you look on Baseball America there’s a pretty detailed article about the Twins & Pirates financial situations, and how their financial outlook in recent years is far from a slam dunk money maker.

The Twins attendance is down and hasn’t returned to pre-Covid levels, and their television contract is not what many think it is.

The MLB is a very divided league when it comes to value and ability to generate income. Some of the most lucrative teams have literally $0 of debt and could sell tickets for top dollar with an obstructed view of nothing, while others cannot generate excitement and the corresponding income no matter what they do.

I don’t foresee the Twins selling any time soon.

Here’s that article. Sorry if I don’t have any sympathy for their terrible handling of the regional TV deal, or attendance dropping especially after they cut payroll $30m after their longest playoff run in ages.
