when they sell……who knows
prediction…using dutchy’s terminology……..china doll
will be hurt by the 7th inning of the first game.
i think they’ll win the division!!!!!!!!!!
March 25, 2025 at 8:16 am #2326150They are already getting hurt. I think they’ll be able to compete, it will come down to how many of them get hurt, and we all know what that answer is going to be.
March 25, 2025 at 8:49 am #2326166The Twins have become the least relevant pro team in Minnesota. The Perpetual mediocrity and ownership that does nothing to excite the fan base. Plus, the TV contracts are a mess so seeing them on TV is almost impossible.
March 25, 2025 at 8:55 am #2326170Worse, they did nothing to improve the team and major pieces are already banged up.
As for the sale, it will never happen unless they face reality. And the reality apparently is, they ran up a tab on the golden goose the last 5 years. And the guy responsible for it wants to stay on after the sale to keep running the team. These people are beyond delusional. No one is paying more because the Pohlad idiots ran up the debt. And no one is paying that kind of money to keep the Jim Pohlad stink around the organization.
March 25, 2025 at 11:31 am #2326220Heard on the radio this morning that part of the reason they were so tight with money these past few years, even when the team showed promise, was all the debt they were in. Sucks that their financial decisions in their other business ventures caused their hobby of owning a pro baseball team to suffer.
How long is Lewis supposed to be out?

Them being in debt really blew my mind, I know they are expanding their business ventures far and wide, but this still caught me by surprise. Them selling at a large discount due to the debt they incurred to fund other projects would be the ultimate in irony for an empire founded on banking. Has anyone come across articles digging into the origin of this debt? We know it’s not from baseball operations or on field salary.

I would guess Normarq might be the Twins funding arm so they can scrape off income while also writing off debt.
March 25, 2025 at 2:49 pm #2326276If you look on Baseball America there’s a pretty detailed article about the Twins & Pirates financial situations, and how their financial outlook in recent years is far from a slam dunk money maker.
The Twins attendance is down and hasn’t returned to pre-Covid levels, and their television contract is not what many think it is.
The MLB is a very divided league when it comes to value and ability to generate income. Some of the most lucrative teams have literally $0 of debt and could sell tickets for top dollar with an obstructed view of nothing, while others cannot generate excitement and the corresponding income no matter what they do.
I don’t foresee the Twins selling any time soon.

Sorry if I don’t have any sympathy for their terrible handling of the regional TV deal, or attendance dropping especially after they cut payroll $30m after their longest playoff run in ages.

Probably not a good sign if Mahto is that pessimistic?!

Do you think the wolves had sell outs in years past. I can attest going to a game that you could hear was squeaking shoes because nobody was there.slough
Posts: 657March 26, 2025 at 8:38 pm #2326498I’m in the same boat as most here, I don’t see a ton of promise on the roster. Pitching staff should be ok if they stay healthy. Would be nice to see Wallner really blossom but we’ll see. Hard to put much faith in Lewis, Buxton, Correa. But, the division should be pretty bad again so who knows.
March 27, 2025 at 2:27 pm #2326582Opening Day is here. First pitch in about 45 minutes.
Ironic they are facing Sonny Gray!
March 27, 2025 at 3:10 pm #2326586Also I just got a notice from Midco that the Twins have been added. So it looks like they reached an agreement???
March 28, 2025 at 7:31 am #2326675Short article but kind of solidifies what I already felt.
Baseball is the NUMBER 1 sport for me – love it.
The tv issue is huge – figure it out people. More money than god and you dick around with pennies and dally in the franchise when you feel like it.
Pohlad staying on after the sale?!?!?! I am guessing the potential buyer fell over from laughter at the thought.
Because your other “inherited” businesses are struggling perhaps you should divest yourself of this club and move on. With $475+ million in debt haggling over $300 million seems foolish to me. Lot of money? Yup, you bet, but this fan is tired of the crap effort and crap product.
THis team could be an amazing draw for an owner who wants to win and run a good team. THe fan base is huge and we can draw from quite a ways, beautiful stadium and good history, the sky’s the limit.
Don’t care what their issues are, I care about baseball so this may be the end of my support. Last nite’s game ( yes, only the FIRST one) was a journey down recent memory lane. Ober throws the ball away on a freebie pick to second base, bases loaded and we can’t even put it in play…….aaaaggggggghhhhhhhhh

It was an adventure. THe details of what channels people on various networks didnt start coming out until yesterday morning. I use directv stream and it said for me it would be on 668-3. I checked the guide at that time and it wasnt even listed. Went out to dinner and they had directv satellite so I switched the channel to 668-3 and there it was. When I got home I checked the guide again and it was there.
Didnt watch much of the game. They were down early but made a comeback so that was nice to see I guess. The prognosticators say they should have a really good bullpen. We’ll see if that turns out or not.March 28, 2025 at 8:07 am #2326684Well Pablo continued his awfulness from spring training, but the new guys did pretty well.
March 28, 2025 at 10:33 am #2326759So heard they played the Guardians intro to start the broadcast, and then a bunch of people who paid for streaming weren’t able to stream it…
March 29, 2025 at 2:08 pm #2326961Gets old watching Buxton wave at a pitch 2 feet outside and his walking back to the dugout looking out at the pitcher who just fanned him…
March 29, 2025 at 2:55 pm #2326967I started watching the feed from St. Louis (Bally’s Midwest) with Carey & Thompson as announcers. Top of the innng I switched over to Fox. Just went back to the St. Louis feed. Anybody know who those announcers on Fox are?
March 29, 2025 at 3:15 pm #2326970I didn’t care for either. Went back to the St. Louis feed. 4-1 bottom of 7.
March 29, 2025 at 3:21 pm #2326971I’m watching the game on direct. Looks like I’m watching the 87 world series the picture quality is so bad.
March 29, 2025 at 3:38 pm #2326975The failure to close the deal with 2 strike counts is killing the Twins pitchers. 4-1 bottom of 8.
