The DNR has ice out last year as March 16th.
If that is c correct I would think this year will be similar.

Lots more ice this year than last year, so I think March is a long shot. I’d say April 15.

Yep, it is currently pretty thick. Think of how much ice would need to melt on a daily average for a March ice out date.

    I will say April 14th.

I am curious what the temps were there last week and how thick the ice is now.

Big Stone lake on the SD border had over 2’ until last week. It has shrunk to 18”. A pick up went through yesterday in a spot where a fish house had sat for awhile and the ice had deteriorated a lot. Unfortunately the driver didn’t make it.

I think Platte will be ice-free on April 10th, and I’ll say it will be the 21st for Mille Lacs.

My understanding is that ice on area lakes is from 20″ to 26″. Snow is 95% gone.

    Specifically, 4/19

Sorry mx and all you evil stoners.

I think late too unless the sun and wind get harsh. Next week is cool again so I’m at least last week of April guy. This is for total ice out.

Official Ice Out is declared when you can put in at Garrison and go in a straight line to Isle Bay… unimpeded.

That Two Harbors launch looks a bit perilous yet. Quite the ice lip. Be tough bouncing that big boat of yours over it. Or did the child labor prevail? LOL

I talked to a gentleman this afternoon at the bait shop who was heading up there with his 1 ton truck and tandem wheel house. He said Hunter’s is open with no weight restrictions. I’d say it’ll be a while yet.
