Starts up this week on the St. John’s River and will be on The Big O next week. It will be interesting to see if Fothergill continues the hot streak that ushered him into the Elites. Hopefully all the MN and WI guys get off to a good start.

You know we are getting closer to spring win the Bassmaster season gets started. It gives me something to watch till our open water season gets here. At the rate we are going, its looking like it could be a little later ice out. Lots of ice out there already with more on the way. It will be interesting to see if the rule changes on electronics will make any difference. I really don’t think it will. They just needed to look like they were doing something, while not really doing anything.

A far cry from last year, when I caught a pike on a spinnerbait on the 20th of February.

I’m pulling for Easton Fothergill this season. The pride of Grand Rapids, MN.

As far as the new rules, it won’t do much. Mostly a smoke screen for scope wizards. coffee

I followed the elites really close when it first started. Wild how many guys are gone. It seems like the turnover of pros has increased. Or to put it another way, the average career length has shortened. Probably just the evolution of the sport. On the flip side there’s also guys still hanging around that should hang it up. Somehow Bernie Schultz has fished forever, even though he catches about 5 bass a year. Gary Klein was past his prime 17 years ago. I do really like bassmaster over the chicken bucket Duckett league. Better format, easier to understand, etc. This seems to be universal between all my fishing buddies and contacts.

BASS announced today a partnership with Roku. Great news if you are a Roku user; I am not. I assume I am now cut off from being able to stream live weigh-ins and tournament coverage. If that is the case, I am going to get a trial subscription in doing without that which I was accustomed to be able to watch.

I didn’t see if it was mentioned that live coverage would ONLY be on Roku and not online at all. Either way, the Roku channel is free and no subscription is needed. You can get a Roku device for $20.
