KOC a was a linebacker coach before he got this job. He’s in over his head, week after week.

Kevin O-Connell a linebackers coach? He’s been offense his whole career.

That being said, even as bad as the vikes were these last two weeks they were expected to win like 6 games this year and ended up winning 14. Hard to end on a bad note but they were better than expected

I agree but its still a hard pill to swallow. 4 losses in a season to only 2 teams. bawling

Against Detroit, the defense at least played well for a half.

Nothing played well last night. 6 sacks by the Rams in the first half alone? I mean they weren’t even competitive for virtually the entire game.

I think both Darnold and Flores costed themselves a lot of money last night. Flores was rumored to be in for another head coaching gig. And we already know about Sam. He will find a job somewhere else next season, it just won’t be for as much or as high as it might have been a few weeks ago.

I said it jokingly a week or so ago but I’m saying it seriously now. This was the worst 14 win team in history. They were nowhere near as good as that record. The way they played these last 2 weeks was embarrassing. A 14 win season means nothing to me after a one and done playoff season. Darnold and the team overachieved this season but in the end they both showed what they are, Average at best.

“ Kevin O-Connell a linebackers coach? He’s been offense his whole career.”

You’re right, he was OC for the Rams before he came here. Either way, his teams are not well prepared and don’t make half time adjustments. Look at the last two weeks.

Get on the 2025 wagon before it is full. I’m taking the “Over” of 14.5 wins for next year’s Vikings squad now that the savior everyone was yearning for has arrived.

8 of their wins were by less than one score. They are a .500 team that caught some lucky breaks.

I don’t necessarily disagree that the Vikings got some breaks, but in the whole league about 75% of the games are one score games. 11 of the Chiefs’ 15 wins are one score games. Does that make them a .500 team that simply caught some lucky breaks? Good teams win the close games and while they may look like lucky breaks, good teams will create pressure and make plays that turn out to be the breaks they need to win.

Listening to KFAN this morning as a Packer fan is just “oh so delicious”!

But like others have mentioned KOC’s play calling was really a head scratcher with all the runs while being down. After the Vikings beat the Packers I was thinking they were legit but now I think both teams over achieved this year.

Jokes aside, the Rams will be a formiddable foe if they play like that down the stretch. I could see them representing the NFC in the super bowl.

I went into the season not expecting too much, so I dont feel as let down as I normally would. KOC made some mistakes, he will learn from those mistakes, this team has a boatload of capspace to plug holes with and 4 more years of a rookie QB payscale to workaround, I’m excited for the future…

I turned it off after the strip sack/TD. I have better things to spend my time on. Just the Vikings doing Vikings things – you think I’d be used to it after almost 50 years, but I’m not. I’m just used to never being used to it.

Every team in the North except Da Bears overachieved this year. The Pack and Lions held up remarkably well given all their injuries. I will be shocked if the Lions make the Super Bowl. They could very well be one and done just like the rest of the Division if Goff is off a bit and the Washington O has more answers than KOC did.

I don’t think so. They are not that good. Playing Minnesota just made them look good. But then again anything is possible. Who knows maybe the Vikings will even win a superbowl In my lifetime

Darnold maybe a cousin of Cousins ? When the game is big… they get the deer in the headlight look. My nephew was at the game and he said all the Vikings fans were yelling “throw the ball” just about every play, because Darnold thought he had the Pro bowl O Line in front if him and would drop 5-7 steps, sit back in the pocket that didn’t exist… until he got sacked. That’s what I seen and was also yelling throw the ball… the Manning boys and Bellichek also were saying it over and over. Time for JJ. I say Darnold gets a $25m offer from some desperate team. Oh well, there is always next year !!

Perhaps. Need a bigger sample size. We’ll find out in 5 days against the Eagles.

Keep in mind the dividion record was built by playing the NFC South and NFC West, the 2 weakest divisions. If you happened to catch the Rams in the first 5 games of the season you caught them when they were 1-4 and without 2 of their weapons.

All said and done everybody was entertained this year. They played well enough to win a bunch of games. Made their bones against weaker opponents, but still had to beat them. Darnold was a surprise nobody expected so that was fun to watch.

Flores’s defense was a paper defense when the chips were on the table. KOC got schooled first by Glenn & Campbell and then by his mentor. It will make him better.

With all the wild card games the NFL got what they wanted…all the extra money. Now we can get down to the legit games with legit teams.

    Thoughts??

Just threw up in my mouth a bit. However IF he would be a good mentor to JJ and didn’t cost us that much, and would promise not to whine like a school girl every play that doesn’t work out, I might think about it, maybe.

The Viking would also have to sign the rest of his buddies too. whistling

Remember when people said that Aaron Jones was just as good as Josh Jacobs, and that the Packers overpaid for Jacobs?

Jones had a nice season and all and is a guy that’s easy to root for…but he’s not a game changer at this point in his career.

I was such a huge fan of 33. Yes, Jacobs has proven any doubters wrong. Only thing I still wonder is whether it was the right move for this particular team. MLF seems to be having a hard time figuring out how to find the right balance. Getting a stud RB1 has coincided with the passing game taking a step backward this year. Doesn’t mean it was the cause, but it’s interesting. I feel it made MLF more conservative and allowed him to revert to an earlier mode that I thought he’d out-grown last year.

Josh Jacobs 4 years $48M ($11.325M cap hit this year) had 1,329 yards 15 TD 36 catches 342 yards 1 TD
Aaron Jones 1 year $7M ($7M cap hit this year) had 1,138 yards 5 TD 51 catches 408 yards 3 TD

What were you saying? I mean if you think the TD difference was all due to Jacobs unique skill set, you might have an argument but otherwise Jones looks like a far better VALUE. Which was what the argument was.

Jacobs did all that despite having a passing offense that was lackluster and against far more loaded boxes. He took games over when Love was out hurt, and when people knew he was getting the ball 20 times.

Aaron Jones did that in an offense with a Pro Bowl QB, All Pro WR, and far more weapons against softer boxes and more 2 high looks.

***I am an Aaron Jones fan and think he’s a great human too (from what I’ve ever read). I’ve got a helmet that he signed for my daughter at mini camp that she loves and displays proudly. With that said, he simply wasn’t the gamechanger that he used to be.

Don’t think the Vikings were looking for a game changer when they signed him. He seems like a reliable running back who can catch the ball and is good in the locker room as well. With JJ, Addison, Hockenson they will never be a running team.

Jacobs had 125 more total yards on 31 more touches, and 50% more money. They are both really good players. Jones was a better value. Just stop.

Forgot to look at the TD’s scored? Jacobs scored twice as many TD’s and those are points on the scoreboard. Just stop.

So you think those extra TD’s and points were worth the extra 4+ Million $’s they paid him this year? The point was who was a better value. Just Stop.

Not an Akers fan but they should have used him more the last two games. The few touches he got way outperformed Jones.
