    I agree.

The last time they played and lost to the Rams was a similar scenario. Lose to the Lions, then 4 days later lose to the Rams. I sure hope the same outcome doesn’t emerge. At least this time they have 7 days to rest, prepare, and practice instead of four.

Think about this, should they lose to the Rams, all 4 losses this season will be to the same two teams: Detroit (2) and LA (2).

The Rams are a difficult opponent, but they are not the Lions. On paper its an easier opponent. But now you can’t lose otherwise its the golf course.

I’m seeing Vikings -1.5 and a total line of 47.5 as of this morning.

I want no part of that total, but Vikings moneyline at -120 may be a play.

The Rams have put up point totals of 13, 19, and 12 in their last 3 games that were all against Non-Playoff teams.

Holy schnikes was that an ugly game. Can’t stop the run, darnold can’t hit the broad side of a buffalo bills’ fan, riechart way off even on kickoff, and coaching mistakes up and down the field. Oh, don’t forget back to back delay of games.

I’m no savant or guru but I’ve been saying all season that despite our good record we don’t have the little “something” that it takes to be a championship or Super Bowl team. The lions do though.

Hope vikes and darnold work some magic but not banking and don’t care to knock on wood. We’ll see.

Darnold might have cost himself a lot of money. If throws up a stinker in the first round all the talk of a big extension or free agency signing will be over.

I was thinking the same thing. My thought process all season has been that they should wait and see how Darnold’s season ends to finalize a plan because that could dictate a lot. Franchise tag could be around $40 million, but to resign a guy who played QB like that last night could be $20 million or less. If the front office does think like that it’s crazy to think that finishing the season on a bad note or two could have cost Darnold $20 million or more a year. We’ll see what happens in LA.

Gotta tip my hat to the Motor City Kitties, Dan Campbell, and their unstoppable VIBES!!! applause Seriously pretty incredible what they have done this year despite basically half of their roster being on IR at one point or another.

The way Darnold played was inexcusable, and totally out of character for his performances this year. His misses of Hockenson on the first two drives of the game ended those drives prematurely and destroyed his confidence for the rest of the game. Embarrassing for someone who’s been through what he has, and had the resurgence this year that he had.

KOC has to do a better job in the red zone, which has historically been a strength, so not sure what went SO wrong last night. Also, I liked the no huddle or fast paced offense early, again not sure what switched but he’s got to get the play in sooner down the stretch too. I don’t hate the 4th down attempts inside the 5 either.

I’d bet any full breakdowns of the game show a bunch of holding/pi/illegal contact by the Detroit defense beyond the 4-5 that were called. I also don’t know how Goff’s intentional grounding in the end zone isn’t, but Darnolds later in the game is, they both should have been imo, and both had receivers in a very vague general vicinity. I’d also love to know why the SkyCam was in our huddle all night, but I don’t think I saw Goff call one play, seems like there should be some relative consistency with its use.

There it is. I am surprised it took this long for someone else to see it too.

The officials had a major influence on the outcome. If they would have correctly called the intentional grounding penalty, made a couple more illegal contact calls against the Detorit 3rd string secondary, gave the Vikings 4 more seconds after the playclock expired instead of just the 3 they somehow already get, and turned the other way when kickers kick it out of bounds……This would have been a Vikings victory. There’s a decent chance that Dan Campbell has someone hiding in the medical tent with a joystick running the skycam too. 31-9 was a fluke.

The fix was in, and we were all just suckered into watching it unfold.

I assume you’re being sarcastic here.

Clearly the officiating was not perfect but did not decide the outcome of the game.

The Vikings inability to score inside the 10 yard line was the primary factor here. Anyone with a melon on their head and half a brain of football IQ can see that.

Take your loss, prepare for next Monday in LA, and execute better.

Bucky’s just projecting the embarrassment of his cheesers going 1-5 in the Division, and being a blocked FG away from 0-6. Because I know he read my whole post and he’s smart enough to realize I credited Detroit, and assigned the blame for the poor performance on Sam and KOC before making some general observations.

I doubt they will be over, but you are correct, A poor performance in the playoffs will likely cost him a ton of $

I’d be pretty embarrassed by losing to the Bears in their current state also. Sure the vikings got spanked by one of the best teams in football but you actually have to try to lose to the bears this year – they serve up W’s on a platter

My hope is that Minnesota can play a good game against LA and then get another shot at Detroit. I would really like to see the outcome if the Vikings could play a better game against them in a few weeks. But 1st they have to get past LA.

I don’t ever recall a NFL player getting the yips, but not sure what else to call this. Darnold staring down wide open WR’s and not cutting it loose. And this is just red zone, not the ones he airmailed and skipped 5-10 yards off the intended receiver elsewhere on the field.

If the Vikings defense plays like they did the first 3 quarters, they will beat the Rams convincingly. The Rams have struggled on offense mightily the past 3 games against bad opponents. The Vikings have too many weapons to be kept out of the endzone 2 weeks in a row.

I would say Cousins was prone to games with the Yips. Darnold overthrew receivers much of the game. In other games those throws were in the money.

KOC seemed to be at a loss on how to find a way to keep Detroit defense a bit more honest in their coverage schemes.

Detroit Coach’s did a excellent job of calling that game on both sides. doing what he has done with all the injuries he’s had is incredible. That Def. cord. deserves to be a head coach soon.

I thought OC blitz response 101 was the screen pass. I do not remember the Vikings doing much of that.

Gibbs is one tough guy. He basically carried the Lions with all four TDs … played well even after that hit he took.

I believe what we saw last night was Sam Darnold. As in, who he always has been. KOC and Shanahann last year did great work on him. But he played last night just like he had a Jets/Panthers jersey on. Big game and he resorted to bad habits and old behavior. Can he dig deep to remember everything he’s learned the past year+? I’m not betting my farm on it. Anything is possible.

Darnold seemed rattled by the pressure of the big game. You could see it in his eyes and obviously his performance. He had several open receivers and by the time he decided to throw it was too late.

I said it all year, this team isn’t as good as their record. Some of that is probably due to being a jaded Vikings fan. Champions of choke.

I don’t see the pack or vikes making it far in the playoffs.

Regardless of what happens in the playoffs, I think they should sign darnold one more year with the franchise tag to give our rookie some more time before making him our starter. Some of the best qb’s rode the pine for a couple years out of college.

That was a Incredible hit. One of the hardest hit I’ve seen this season. Tough guy to get up from that one.

It is based off seeding and who wins. None of that is for certain yet.

IF Philadelphia disposes of the Packers…then it comes down to the Commanders/Bucs game. If the Commanders win, then the Vikings would go to Philly. If the Bucs win, then the Vikings would head back to Detroit

The only way the Vikings can get a home playoff game is if they Win, the Packers win, and the Commanders win. In this scenario, they would then host the Commanders.

** IF **. They throw up a stinker in the first round. If.

Remember 2023 first round game against the Giants? Remember 1998 against the Falcons? Remember the Super Bowl against the Chiefs when we were favored by 20 points?. If.

Serious question, when was the last time the Vikings won a prime time national audience big time game? I think it was game against Dallas when Moss was a rookie. This is the all time choke team of the last 100 years.

The thing that has always bothered Me about KOC is his in ability to commit to running the ball. Last night with Goff throwing like a riffle that was dropped out of a ladder stand he should of leaned on the run rather then passing so often. The third down and goal from the from 4 we passed rather then running it once and seeing how close we get knowing we were going for it on 4th. I cant remember a time where we have run the ball multiple times in a row in a game. Establish the run get darnold calmed down and move on.

This is exactly what Detroit did with goff. Took the ball out of his hand got the run game established and kept pounding the rock and wore down our defense then used the play action fakes to open up wide receivers. We

You could see last night that any type of pressure on Darnold and he was terrible. Accuracy, movement, and decision making are not in his wheelhouse. Addison was non existent and Jefferson looked like he was going to cry.

First of all Steve, we aren’t supposed to mention the traumatic years, I thought we all agreed to that in Vikings fandom…? Secondly, we are supposed to focus on the goodish years, like the Minneapolis Miracle, Rudy OT walkoff vs the Saints for Kurt’s only playoff win, and I’m sure there’s 2-3 more somewhat recent ones I’m forgetting about. Without those we’d be the Lions pre-2024. rotflol jester rotflol
