5 TDs for Darnold and O INT
0 TDs for Cousins and 2 INT

Looks like Kirko made the wrong decision signing with the Dirty Birds and then they stabbed him in the back and signed Penix. Just a beautiful thing. Hey- it’s just business, right!?

He got paid and for now Pennix is sitting. I think he’ll be ok.

Crazy how many smart coaches make dumb decisions at the end of a game.

Bills vs Rams game, Bills try to sneak it in with 1:05 left (vs 4 pass play attempts)they got stuffed and were forced to use 1 of their 3 timeouts. This then forces them to go for a 3% success rate onsides kick vs they could have kicked it away and used their 3 timeouts to likely get the ball back with 45 or so seconds to get into position for a winning field goal…

    Just dumb…

350 yards, 5TDs and a win over a likely playoff team for Darnold.

At what point do the Vikings faithful start to appreciate what they have, and second guess blindly handing this thing off to 21 year old JJ McCarthy in the offseason?

I personally think he should be signed to a longer term contract before it’s too late. He’s proven what he’s capable of already.

But there’s too many people who want to anoint the first round draft pick as the long term solution, so unless there is a Vikings game in February, that is what will happen.

The Vikings can always franchise tag Sam Darnold for 1 year at around $40 million and see how He and JJ pan out another season… They could also franchise Sam and trade him if JJ looks good or extend him if they think JJ isn’t t going to pan out…

Nothing will happen till the off season. I doubt Kwesi and his agent are even having discussions at this point in the season and won’t until the season is over.
It’s not as if Sam wouldn’t want to stay here.
If he wants to go to the highest bidder that probably won’t be the Vikings.
If he wants to stay in the best situation he has ever had there is a good chance that could still happen.

If he keeps playing well and they win a few playoff games i think the tag is the best option. Let’s all be honest none of us know what the best option will be in the future. I’m a huge “known commodity” guy and we’ve seen Darnold on an NFL field, not Mccarthy. But Mccarthy has potential and allows the Vikes to put money toward other improvements. I think the franchise tag is the best compromise.

The Franchise Tag now definitely has to be part of the conversation. I have been (and still am) a “trust the process” guy on our current QB situation. But if we somehow make a Super Bowl appearance – regardless of victory, I think you have to seriously consider keeping him around. Get another year to develop JJM while he’s healthy and done rehabbing. As good as Sam’s been – It still think he’s a guy in the right situation and right culture to get the best out of him.

Also – our season rests squarely on the Offensive line. Atlanta’s pass rush has been terrible – last in the league in sacks, and they got to Darnold 5 times yesterday. I miss the days of Stussie, Stringer, Birk, Dixon, etc. It’s been SO LONG since we’ve had a great group up-front.

With the best agent in all of sports. It’s crazy how much money he’s made with such a thin resume.

It sure had been but they had that many sacks the prior week too so I think they have something figured out recently.

Until about a month ago, Cousins and the Falcons were riding high at 6-3.

The past 4 games have not gone well. They are now 6-7 and their chances to win the putrid NFC South have greatly diminished.

That being said, they have a relatively easy schedule the final 4 games. And they beat Tampa twice. So any type of tie breaker goes their way.

Not sure if I’d rather play Atlanta or Tampa in the wild card round. Based on the current trajectory, probably the Falcons.

reminder that Case Keenum was in a similar situation years ago…1 season wonder that took us to the NFC Championship game (albeit it took a MN miracle to get there) and then we decided NOT to pay him as our starter the following season and that turned out to be a great decision…

The Franchise tag on Darnold buys you a year to make sure whatever decision you make (Go with Sam or stick with JJ) is more informed…

KOC is the QB Whisperer, why would we pay any QB? Just keep reviving high draft picks that flamed out, or drafting new ones… whistling jester (just kidding, kinda)

That was a dominant W, good to see them stretch one out in 2nd half!

100% agree. His agents should be considered the greatest sports agent of all time for getting him paid as well as he has for his career. I had 0 problem when they let him go here. a 1-4 playoff record ( Only won 1 playoff game in his career ) there were rookies last year that won that many.

I agree. I think we all know what “the plan” was, then JJ got hurt. Shift the plan by a year, franchise Darnold, and next year we do what we thought we’d do this year. McCarthy will not have played football since last year’s national championship with Michigan, so give him next year to be an apprentice behind a guy who seems to be loved by his teammates.

Atlanta has some weapons and Kirk could easily still put up 400 yards in a game…but for me Baker worries me the most, I think he could pull up and be a hero in any game.

Evan’s and Baker scare me more. They both have just as easy of schedule as the other. Both could easily go 3-1 to finish the season. Baker has won a couple playoff games as well.

I think i read somewhere Cousins doesn’t use an agent, represents himself. Must be that MSU degree.

He’s made almost $300 million in guaranteed money in his career. That means he’s pocketed somewhere between $20-30 million in fees to an agent.

Seems pretty smart to me…he has probably maximized his value more than any other player in NFL history.

Vikings will win out the next three, then Detroit is a toss up. Seattle will be a tough game. Bears hopefully roll over. Packers we throttled the first time and Vikes have a huge coaching advantage.

Jordan Addison, aka Free 3 is the Second Coming of Anthony Carter, aka AC. Oh man, is that receiver group dangerous. With a healthy Hock, they are who I thought they were. Add on a healthy A Jones and my prediction of 3 losses being this team’s floor back in late September isn’t so ridiculous now, is it? I was under the impression that we would have Hock back by the Lions game back then.

Whatever happened to Addison whining about wanting out? He’s getting fed PLENTY now. That’s a decision that’s coming down the pike as well. Likely a DUI suspension still coming, too.
