I would tend to agree, but it’s been more than just Chase saying it now and speculating on wild rumours is fun devil

Harry the hitman back with the Vikes for year 13. Took a paycut, adds another 6 mil to their cap space it sounds like.

Harry is healthy and wants to play football. His phone did not ring off the hook. Glad he is sticking around.

Glad to see that! He is an all-timer that just goes about his work and doesn’t say anything. Not as splashy as Ed Reed or Polamalu, but statistically he stacks up right with them, and imo will be wearing a Gold HOF Jacket soon after retirement.

Vikings make a trade to acquire another 1st round pick. This has to be in order to bundle both to move up in the top 5 Id think. If not, then keep the 23rd and use it on Mccarthy Id think he would still be there.

Seems KAM has been stealing my notes…

Though I cannot see how this whole situation isn’t give Vikes fans acid flashbacks of the Ponder draft devil

I do find it somewhat funny that fans have been screaming for years to move on from Cousins and draft the next generational QB and then get scared and freak out a bit when it actually might happen.

Not referring to you Wildlifeguy, just seen a lot of people saying wait till they screw the pooch on this one. Well in order to screw the pooch you have to try first.

Most intriguing off season in a long time.

It’s going to take more than #11 and #23 to get into the top 5 spots based on past precedent. I’d NOT want the Vikings to dig deeper into future high draft picks IF I was a loyal member of their fanbase. Look at what the Panthers did and the fast track to nowhere that they are now on.

The Bears traded away the #1 pick to the Panthers for the chance to draft Bryce Young (gross)…who had less hype and upside than the top 3 in this draft. Moving up 8 spots cost the Panthers:

    -#9 overall pick
-#1 overall pick the next year
    -Pro Bowl WR DJ Moore
    -2023 2nd round pick
    -2025 2nd round pick

I look for Kwesi to stay put at 11 and take McCarthy…or flip #11 and #23 to move up a few spots to get McCarthy if info tells him other teams are jockeying to move up. Even if QBs go #1-3, there’s no QB getting drafted at #4, 5, 7, 8, 9, or 10 by the Cards, Chargers, Titans, Falcons, Bears, or Jets in respective order. I think the Giants will pass too at #6 given the $ tied up with Jones and knowing they will be bad regardless or who they pick. The teams that the Vikings have to watch and be sure they have more “ammunition” than are the Broncos and Raiders. The rest of the teams picking below them aren’t going to trade up for a QB.

I don’t think you can wait on 23 for McCarthy. They would love to take him at 11 and I would be surprised if he was there at 11, but you never really know how these things play out. Maybe Kwesi watched the movie draft day. rotflol

They just most likely picked the wrong guy. I wouldn’t have a problem giving up that much for CJ Stroud.

^That’s a lot to give up for a guess where statistically speaking it’s in the range of a 15-20% chance you get a viable long term NFL starting QB at the position. At some point the Vikings are going to have to roll the dice though, which makes it that much more fun to speculate.

Stroud has been great, but I’m not ready to plant his mug on Mt. Rushmore of QBs quite yet. So far he has definitely looked the part of a stud NFL QB. He’s got one of the best young coaches in the league behind him too.

Yeah it will take more than 11 and 23 to get to 3 but I’d do it if I could get Maye. McCarthy doesn’t move the needle for me until late first round and if he goes before 11 it’s a reach.

I guess my problem would be is can one really be sold on this draft class of QBs? If he played anywhere but USC (yes I know he technically started at OU) Williams would be a lock, but USC QBs are just a running joke, as for the others, one-hit wonders, underachievers, and unknowns abound. Guess that’s why they get paid the big bucks, as it were.

NO chance the vikings would get Williams. He is going #1 he is that good. The others fall in line later. I actually think this draft is better for QBs than we have seen in a while.

Beware the ballyhooed talent of a guy putting up stats on a garbage squad that never wins anything of significance.

You dont have to win championships to be a great QB or any player realistically. Williams will be a stud and you can come at me down the road if he doesnt. He just needs to be on a decent team which if he goes to the Bears could be a dumpster fire, but they did add some WR talent so that should help.

I’d take Richardson, Levis, and Stroud over anyone in this draft, Williams included. I’m probably wrong, who knows, I just think they’re underwhelming.

See that’s where I differ, I want the guy that makes the bad team good. I know, they are few and far between. Probably why I am less high on Love than other Pack fans, needing to have top flight offensive talent to make a QB relevant leads to neglecting other needs, like defense. I might be 100% wrong on Williams, but it’s sure a lot of hype to live up to, ask Trevor Lawrence about that.

Id take Lawrence any day of the week over Love for dang sure. I think Trey Lance is someone more along the lines of your thinking with all the hype he had and now he is a cast off. Didnt help with injuries but he has done nothing.

    I’d rank those 3 as:

Stroud 1 (good starter, a guy you can win with in the league, but not a transcendent guy who defines a generation or anything like that)

Levis 2 (Ironically I think he is the second coming of the guy he replaced in Tannehill. Probably a starter on a team that never really is a major playoff threat)

Richardson 3 (I think he’s a poor man’s Jalen Hurts. What makes Jalen Hurts relevant is that he has won at all levels and is a physical beast. Richardson has the physical part, but couldn’t win in college at Florida)

I think Love and Lawrence will have similar careers and have similar ceilings in the league. Lawrence has the more lively arm and athleticism, Love has maybe a bit more touch and calm savy about him. I think they will both be “good” pros for the next 7-8 years. Neither will evolve into Mahomes 2.0.

I think Lance was doomed from the very start. He was overhyped and didn’t have an extensive resume/film to look at from NDSU, which is a completely different animal than many D-1 CFB leagues itself. It’s crazy to see how San Fran took a big gamble and missed, yet literally made that big move nothing more than a speed bump going forward. Carolina is about to take their miss and parlay that into a dismal decade of football.

I really don’t think McCarthy will last till the 11th Pick. I’m guessing they are looking to bundle the 11th and the 23rd to see how high they can move up. I don’t see either Chicago or the Commanders willing to give up #1 or 2. So the highest they could possibly move up is #3. Unless they could move up enough to get Jayden Daniels at QB, I’d prefer they just keep the 11 and 23 and use it to get a quality O-linemen. and a quality Def. back.

If someone drafts Mccarthy higher than 11 they are an idiot and should be fired immediately.

It may or may not all work out in the end, but they are sure active in trying to improve the team with the bankroll that they have to work with.

Sean Payton with the Broncos, and the entire Raiders organization have entered the chat…

They’re the only teams lower than the Vikes that I’d be afraid of jumping them. Both organizations are plenty dumb enough to go chasing someone and then throwing them to the wolves

I agree he’s probably a guy you draft and sit for a year which the Vikings have the luxury of doing.
