alot of illegal formation
This has really been a point of emphasis this year. They call it a lot and the Vikings have been flagged for it many times already.
Thought the defense played very well again, for the third straight game. Those two games against Detroit and LA were ugly on the defensive side of the ball. Granted, the Colts, Jags, and Titans aren’t exactly offensive juggernauts, but they’ve only scored a total of 20 points against the Vikings defense in that span.

Levis had 295 yards passing plus a 60 yarder called back. The Vikes need to clean up the pass defense. The pass rush and opportunistic nature of the defense continues to be impressive though.
True, they were bailed out by some penalties called on Tennessee. Its certainly an improvement over allowing 30+ points against the Lions and Rams though. The presence of Cashman at linebacker cannot be over stated. When he’s in there, he’s a difference maker.
The Vikings are favored by 3.5 points against the Bears on Sunday at Soldier Field.
The Bears, standing at 4-6, have lost 4 games in a row. Last week they were in line to make a GW field as time expired against Green Bay and the Packers blocked it.
Historically, Soldier Field has been a house of horrors for the Vikings, but in recent years, the Vikings have turned the table there, winning 4 in a row.
The previous 13 games prior to the current 4 game win streak dating back to 2007 heavily favored the Bears, as they were 10-3 against Minnesota in Chicago. One of those wins was when Adrian Peterson was a rookie, rushing for 224 yards.

If the Bears show up, I expect a very close game down to the wire. However, I think last week was the straw that broke the Eberflus’ back in Chi-town and they are DOA. Which if that’s the case I expect an easy W without much push back, although even then I don’t expect a great performance because we never perform well there, especially with the gales of November blowing.
PS That AP game might be his best performance ever (even better than the Chargers 296), 224 on the ground vs Urlacher, Briggs and Peanut Tillman AND another 167 yards receiving and in return yardage for a total of 391 total yards.

I forgot about the return and receiving yardage that game. Adrian was not really known for that during his tenure but ya that is a ridiculous stat line against a good defense.
This Browns-Steelers game is good, fun to watch in the snow.
That was a wild game, fun to watch for sure! Gotta love snow games! I see that and wish the Vikes were still outside, and then remember going to Lambeau for the tie at -5 and to US Bank when it was -30 windchill and quickly come to my senses. Just the walk from parking to the Bank had my beard in icicles.
It’s interesting the Vikes aren’t getting any love as a legit contender in the NFC. The Lions are the clear favorite and the Eagles seem to be good but the national guys seem to have forgotten the Vikes are 8-2 with some big wins.
It just takes one game in the post season, but I can’t see how Detroit doesn’t win the NFC and I don’t how you can compare the Vikings and Lions. I know we kept it close with them – we do tend to play to the competition, which drives me nuts when we almost lose to these crap teams. And that’s my point – The Lions impose their will and hang 35-50 points on these teams and that’s what good teams do. It’s called Killer Instinct and the Vikings don’t have it.
Daniel Jones got released by the Giants today. Confirming once again, the NFL stands for Not For Long. He got paid $92M guaranteed in March 2023 after beating the Vikes in the Wild Card round. I wouldn’t hate it if he was Darnold 2.0 here next year.

Jones won’t be your next bridge guy to JJ.
It’s going to be Aaron Rodgers. You heard it here first.

And confirming, once again, that drafting is not easy. As always I’m not necessarily defending the Kwesi’s and Spielman’s (we all know Kwesi’s drafts haven’t produced much) but I think a lot of Vikings fans look at our team in isolation as if the Vikings are always awful at drafting. The Giants put a ton of stock into Jones, then paid him a bunch based of very little. Far more misses than hits in drafting.
It’s going to be Aaron Rodgers. You heard it here first.
No, I’ve been hearing that since A Rodge left the Pack. I’m a big A Rodg guy, and would be totally fine with him coming here, beating the Pack twice, having his best statistical season and leading us to the NFC Championship ala Favre, where hopefully there isn’t a bounty put on him. But I don’t think it makes sense for either side, unless he is bitter at GB and will play here for $15M or less on an annual renewal.
Rodgers needs to go on one if his herbal retreats, or whatever retreat he does. Permanently

God I hope not. I would take 20 more years without a superbowl before I would watch 1 game with that ass hat in purple.

WTF has happened to you? He had one great game and the rest have been absolutely terrible. I would rather roll the dice with JJ, heck even Mullens over him.

Not sure, what you mean, or why you feel so strongly about bringing in a veteran backup/placeholder on a cheap salary to make sure JJ is good to go. JJ hasn’t proven anything and is coming off of a knee surgery that needed additional cleanup, decent chance he’s not 100% at the start of next year. And regardless I want JJ to have to beat someone out, not be handed the position.
What has Jones proven exactly? He had exactly ONE great game against Donatell and our disaster of a defense and he got paid. Otherwise he has been trash. In the right situation maybe he could be something, but I highly doubt it. I certainly wouldnt hand over the reigns to him one year removed from being complete garbage. At least by the time Darnold got here he bounced around a bit and came from the niners where he actually looked good with decent weapons for the little anyone saw from him.

Try again, he has had plenty of good professional performances, including a playoff W against Donatell’s defense. It’s just been outweighed by turnovers and clunkers, and our HC is pretty good at getting a QB dialed in. Again we are just talking about a placeholder/backup QB. Tell me where Daniel Jones hurt you bud
He hasnt hurt me, just doesnt interest me in the least even less so than Rodgers who will likely be in the HOF but he is washed up at this stage.

There is no doubt he is a total D bag and it would be tough to stomach, but most likely with our weapons Erin would shred the opposing D.
Danny dimes I’m not sure on BW. Not going as far as Captain did, I would prefer if I never see Mullens under center again.
Jones will find a job next season, but probably not as a starter. My thinking has him as a backup and teams love backups with experience. He could see the field again if someone gets hurt but it won’t be this season.
Daniel Jones isn’t good and we don’t want him.
A Rodg was my number 1 enemy forever. During covid when he said he was immunized and later they found out that he took steps to be healthy but didn’t get the rushed, unproven, and ineffective fauci ouch-ey then I gained some respect for him.
All this might be moot after darnold goes on a late season tear and signs on for a 3 year $100 mil deal to stay purple.
P.S. Jordan love isn’t in this conversation because no one in vikings kingdom wants a guy whose on a hot streak. 8 games straight with an INT.
but I can’t see how Detroit doesn’t win the NFC and I don’t how you can compare the Vikings and Lions.
I understand what you mean with the lack of killer instinct when they get a lead, but most teams go into prevent defense when that happens. The Patriots in their hay day were really good about putting a team away when they got a lead. It’s natural to let off the gas once you get ahead, and its natural for the team that’s behind to play harder.
The Vikings hung in there with Detroit. They were down 21-10 and came back to take the lead in the third quarter too I think. That was one of the games when Blake Cashman was injured and Gibbs ran all over the place. He is an important player, especially when it comes to stopping the run.
I do think that the Lions will end up with the #1 seed in the NFC though. It’s hard envision any other team in the conference catching them. Heck, Goff threw 5 picks against Houston and they STILL won.
The Lions are putting up 1998 Viking Offense type-numbers, and I think their defense is better than the 1998 Vikings – at least it was before Hutch went down. Like I said, it just takes one game in the playoffs and it can happen but they are by FAR my odds on favorite, not just for the NFC, but for the big one, as well.
I wouldn’t mind seeing the kitties win it all. Better than the Chiefs getting a 3 peat.
I have no interest in Jones but it’ll be interesting to see what a change of scenery does for him. A lot of these high draft picks that start day 1 burnout. They play for terrible teams with terrible coaches and very little support around them. I could see him have a resurgence like we’re seeing with Darnold or even Mayfield in Tampa. Even Justin Fields showed flashes when he started for Pittsburgh. Give these guys a good supporting cast and some good coaching and they can play some ball.
For this week’s game, I think if the Vikes score a TD on Da Bears before the Vikes commit a turnover then the Vikes will dominate this game and win easily. Uncle Sam looked like he locked in last week. I expect the Bears Offense will struggle and if the Vikes get up two scores early the Bears D won’t put up much resistence.
