However, I mostly disagree with the rest of your statement. The defense is the side of the ball that lost the game. Zero pressure, zero sacks, and give up 30 points.

Part of the reason it seems like a lack of pressure on the QB is that the Def. backs are not holding up on coverage long enough for the pressure to get to the QB. I said at the start of the season that the d-backs were the weak spot of this team and I still say it now. Good QB’s know exactly how much time they have and get the ball away before that time. They also are good at making slight movements to gain them a few extra seconds if needed. Look at the teams who have gave the vikings problems so far this season. GB, Detroit and now LA. All Good QB’s who often get the football out quick or can move around in the pocket to gain time for a receiver to get open.

Damnit, I love reading the comments after a game like last night. It’s hilarious.

I saw Dallas Turner finally had his name mentioned last night. I guess we now see why he fell down the draft board so much. Just another Lewis Cine in the making.

With what the Vikings gave up in moving up in the draft for Turner, they better hope he doesn’t turn out like Cine.

The refs had 2 bad calls imo, the rest were fouls that were called accurately. The defensive holding early and the facemask late. The Vikes beat themselves again (like last year), 3rd down penalties are the equivalent of a turnover and we had 5 of them. We also had WAY too many false starts, illegal shifts/formations and just simple alignment issues on offense that are totally unacceptable. I put all of these items directly at KOC’s feet, as that was a terribly undisciplined performance. How do the WR’s not know where to lineup??? It’s not like they are new here.

Defensively the issue is Pace, Byron Murphy (slot CB) and the middle of the field, not the outside CB’s. Gilmore and Griffen are fine, not great but not terrible. Also have to tip your hat to McVay and Stafford, anytime we zone blitzed and had an edge player dropping in coverage (Jones, Van Ginkel, Greenard), they threw it right behind them. And we have no interior pass rush, they were starting 2 backups in the middle and need to abuse those guys, instead they held up well. And the few times we got free on the edge, Stafford got rid of the ball, or pulled a Houdini out of what looked like a sure sack. Not bad for a 38 year old that’s old, slow and immobile….

Anyway 5-2 at this point is great, we have the softest part of our schedule coming up that should put us 8-5 or better going into the home stretch. That’s assuming we go at least 3-3 against the Colts, Jags, Titans, Bears, Cards, and Falcons.

I totally agree with this. Weakest part of the team right now.

This just hasn’t been the Vikes and its been the whole NFL it seems. In the beginning of the season I was like OK its rust and then I was like OK its the refs and now I feel its both. You almost expect to see a flag at the end of every play it feels like.

The issue the past 2 games has been a complete lack of a Pass Rush…Goff and Stafford were hardly touched in 2 games and if you give ANY QB space to step into throws and time to go through their reads and find the open receiver, they will kill you…Offense continues to put points on the board each week…

Nobody expected them to go 17-0 or 16-1 or 15-2, etc… there will be more losses…They just need to plow through the weaker part of their schedule coming up and they getting their Pro bowl TE back next game will help…

Gilmore got roasted yesterday. They went at him all game.

    Darrisaw injury is very worrisome.

Maybe its time for the defense to just line up and get set like normal once and a while. Running around crazy aint working anymore and seems to get them out of position more often then not.

The secondary as a whole is mediocre, but sufficent IF there’s a passrush. Those 2 things go hand-in-hand. Nobody can cover today’s receivers with the rules favoring offense for more than 3-4 seconds without someone running open.

I was surprised that when they couldn’t get Stafford pressured, they didn’t go with the guy that they used essentially a 1st round, 3rd round, and 4th round pick on in Dallas Turner. This game screamed “try anything” to generate pressure, and he was still not an option.

Yeah I agree with most of what you said Werm but Gilmore was real bad last night, and if I’m the next opponent watching film I would also plan on throwing at him.

Lots of comments about the middle of the field…Cashman being out is hurting them. I do feel Pace is better than what he showed last night though.

Not completely true against the Lions. They sacked him 3 times and nearly forced 2 fumbles. Pressure was applied to him during portions of that game.

There was none applied to Stafford though.

getting their Pro bowl TE back next game

This was the 2nd week that was going to happen. I’m fine with them playing it safe with him. I think the last few weeks was just NFL games that teams and coaches like to play to keep the other team factoring a player into their plans.

I’d like to see the advanced stats on Gilmore, he had 5 tackles and 1 pass defensed, and I felt like most of the time they were going at him was on broken down plays. Like the Stafford escaped sack TD to Kupp.

Darrisaw looked like an MCL, so either a week to 4 weeks would be my, and most Twitter Doctors, guess.

Yup, thanks to the Rams, we just put the code to beating our defense on tape for the rest of the league. Kupp and Puah were a factor, that can’t be ignored, but any half-way competent QB and receiving corps can do what the Rams did last night. Especially if we’re not even going to try and pressure the QB.

I think that code started to be decoded during the packers game and was totally decoded for the Lions game. The Rams game plan was rather easy by that point.

It looks like the Twitter doctors were incorrect again. Unfortunately Darrisaw is done for the year and will need season-ending knee surgery.

The Vikings will likely have to at least add a depth piece to the OL moving forward.

yeah, I was really surprised he wasn’t playing last night…especially with the reports on him at practice and his press conferences, then with 10 days until the next game…I gotta keep telling myself it’s a marathon, not a race…

Unreal. He’s arguably the best offensive lineman on the roster.

And the fact that it happened on a useless play right before half makes it even worse.

Kind of hard to blame KOC, but what was the purpose of running deep in your own zone with seconds left in the half? I don’t think they had any TOs left. There’s alot more bad that can happen than good on a play like that…

I think they had 2 timeouts and 35 seconds left at that point staring from the 3 yard line. My thought was run a hand off one play to gain a few yards, and then do a kneel down. Obviously the first play resulted in disaster for Mr Darrisaw.

Can Risner play tackle instead of guard?

I think risner did indeed play tackle before just not here.

I think people forget the rams were 10-7 last year. Made the playoffs and lost by 1 point to the Lions in the playoffs.

Have they looked bad at times this year? Yes
Was it probably do to not having there 2 top offensive weapons? Probably

Long way to go in this season.

    Darrisaw news is terrible.

Well, the 2024 Purple Kool-Aid supply went rancid last night with the Darrisaw injury and the L. My expectations went from being the #1 Seed in the NFC, to the season derailed by injuries. Cashman getting injured was underappreciated and losing Darrisaw for the season is just more sad misfortune. Hock not being back for the Lions game, which was when I thought he would return. Things looked so good going into the Lions game when I thought the team was finally going to be fully healthy to what we got and have now is just depressing.

It would have been nice if that’s all they gave up for him. This is what it cost to move from pick #42 to #23 then from pick #23 to #17
    Round 2 – 2024:42
    Round 5 – 2024:#167
    Round 6 – 2024:#188
    Round 2 – 2025
    Round 3 – 2025
    Round 4 – 2025

Bad news on Darrisaw. Never like seeing any player get hurt.

Nah…we’ve been told on this board that Pat Jones is the second coming of Lawrence Taylor and can’t be taken off the field on obvious passing downs. We’re so DEEP at edge rushers…there’s no room for Dallas Turner..

not sure how accurate this is but i’ve read that Addison wants out of Mn. whining cause he aint getting the ball enough. think being a 2nd year player and some legal issues on the horizon he should watch his own bobber.

it wasnt on FB but on Msn!!!
