I realize the “Dallas Turner only played 4 snaps” is complete trolling by a Packer fan, but….

I’d much rather see this organization play the best players available regardless of draft stock, and that always doesn’t happen. I don’t think a lot of that locker room, who wants to win, would be very happy if the message was sent that a certain player is gonna play to validate his draft status, regardless of how other veterans might be playing. You can keep digging, but look around this thread of Vikings fans, I don’t think anyone is worried about Dallas Turner.

Lions were the better team, if the Vikings want to go far into playoffs they better hope someone knocks the lions out for them

Yes bc this game couldn’t have just as easily gone the other way. Man, I don’t understand the Cheesehead trolling by making themselves look like an imbecile.

For Pitter and Stout an imbecile is a not very smart person. And that’s not very smart in comparison to the greater national population, not the 18 cousin spouses making up your village. jester jester

Vikings Kool-Aid vintage 2024 is some pretty good stuff from Bass Pundit Vineyards. The way the Vikes almost got the W without Cashman and Hock left me not even feeling a bit down after the L. And the more I think about and investigate things the better I am feeling. Looking at the remaining schedule for all the rest of the teams in the NFC I am still bullish on the Vikes chances of getting the #1 Seed. I think it is quite possible if the Vikes stay healthy and take care of business they will have #1 Seed locked up by the time they face the Lions. I think Goff and the Lion’s Offense is going to come back to earth as the weather gets colder and the longer they are without Hutch, the more they are going to miss him. If the Vikes defy the “Lion’s hangover” on Thursday as I expect and get the snowball rolling downhill again, look out NFC.

He and about 3 others constantly troll the Vikings thread every season. Or they passive aggressively comment about the Vikings in the Packer thread.

And then when a Vikings fan trolls the Packer thread, they get all butt hurt about it. Two way street here.

Current power rankings have Detroit at 2, GB at 5, Minnesota at 6, and Chicago at 14. Now that is a stacked division. Not sure how they have GB ahead of the Vikings after Minnesota beat them and just after losing a close game to the #2 team.

If there’s anytime to lose, going on a short week is that time. No stewing on it, just get ready for the Rams game. It’ll be good to have Hockenson back. I remember last year dobbs was hanging all our receivers out there to get walloped. He couldn’t hit a guy in stride very often. Throwing big moon balls out there T.J. would always have to slow/stop and jump up to catch, then get hammered instantly by a defender.

Just in case he forgets to post, I’ll do it for him. Patter Pitter will predict, wait for it, a Vikings loss on Thursday, then next Sunday, and next…. you get the point coffee

    Current power rankings

Whose power rankings? Those are just one person/organizations opinion. Not only did the Vikes beat the Pack, they throttled the Texans who the Pack barely beat.

I think that is ESPN power rankings.

    Athletic had:
    1 Lions
    2 Ravens
    3 Vikings
    4 Chiefs
    5 Packers

So yeah it an opinion from some guy who watches football.

It was from ESPN and even as a Packer Fan I don’t get how you put the Packers above the Vikings right now.

I don’t necessarily disagree with the ravens ranked 2, but that’s ALL Lamar Jackson. If he goes down, that team is nothing, even with Henry. The guy’s an absolute freak of nature.

Chiefs do not play the Ravens in reg season this year. I think might be the AFC championship right there.

Lions are undisputed #1 and Vikings feel good at #3 to me.

Someone earlier mentioned Cashman – we missed him DEARLY this last game, he would’ve been a big help in limiting some of the longer runs Detroit had.

You could say that for just about every top NFL team.

They played in week 1. The Chiefs won.

My Top 5 as of now (and most likely to get to the SB):

    1. Lions
    2. Ravens
    3. Vikings
    4. Chiefs
    5. Bills

    Honorable Mention in no order:

    Eagles, Packers, Texans, Commanders, Steelers

Yeah, but seeing some of the other ravens miscues, etc last night. That guy equals about 4 starters There’s more weight at the QB position there than perhaps any other team in the NFL due to his insane athletic ability. their division is pretty much a cakewalk, but if Lamar goes down, Steelers likely run away with it – far cry from a #2 power ranking. Make fun of me all you want. )

Lamar is definitely valuable. I was surprised to see them calling designed runs for him up multiple scores in Week 7 of the season.

With that said, many teams and players are in similar situations. That’s why they make the big bucks and are at the forefront of every gameplan. The source of the Bills and Chiefs’ successes are almost exclusively dependant on Mahomes and Allen’s well being too. They cover up a lot of roster faults and mistakes.

I know this thread is vikings. But I just have to say the 9ers are totally over rated. Regardless of injuries, they are a good team, but not great.

    They’re down to their 4th, 5th, and 6th receivers I think.

Not to mention that the best running back in the league hasn’t suited up yet.

If they had all those players (like they did last season), they would still be a legit contender in the NFC. Without them, not so much.

There’s rumors of Matthew Stafford getting traded here, which is wild imo. I love Stafford (how can you not?), but we have virtually no draft picks and Darnold has seemingly played well enough to keep the job.

I dont believe that is real. It was also rumored that Cooper Kupp was getting traded here. I dont buy either one.

Those seem like completely BS rumors trying to garner clicks on the slowest day of the NFL news week

The Vikings are 5-1 and have an overall healthy roster (once Hockenson is back) coming into an easy part of their schedule. I would not be surprised to see them 10-1 or 9-2 heading into the stretch run of the season as currently assembled. If I was a Viking fan I’d rather not try to fix something that isn’t broken. At worst case scenario, the Vikings make the playoffs and fall short with a decision to bring back Darnold as a bridge or turn the whole thing over to JJ with the same weapons from this year intact. At Best case scenario, EPG has his purple chair out for the SB parade and they can still decide if they want to reward Darnold with a big contract or move on to JJ with SB caliber weapons next year.

    Matt Stafford’s 2024 stat line: 1392 yards, 3 TDs, 4 INTs and a 66% completion percentage through 6 games

    Sam Darnold’s 2024 stat line: 1370 yards, 12 TDs, 5 INTs and a 66% completion percentage through 6 games

I believe it was ESPN’s power rankings I looked at. I know there are slight difference between one ranking and the next, so others may have things different.

Agreed. And this year is all house money, no one thought this Vikings team would be this good. Predictions start around page 10 on this thread ;-)

^As a Packers fan, I hope they bring in Stafford, maybe even Kupp, dump some valuable assets in doing so, and starting talking about where they’re going to keep the Lombardi trophy……all less than halfway through the season lol

I don’t get the Stafford rumors, and so far anyway, I haven’t heard them substantiated by any reputable source, just your typical online click-bait crap. But who knows.

For one, I’m not sure what we really have to give, and two, Darnold is serving his purpose as a 1-year QB — and doing it far better than anyone expected. We lose one close game against arguably the current best team in football and everybody’s flipping on the guy. His numbers were really good in the Detroit game, only overshadowed by Goff’s continued streak of ridiculously great numbers. Yes, he had a couple of mistakes, big ones. But c’mon he ain’t John Unidas.

Stafford’s long-in-the-tooth and could be an injury risk. Only reason to bring him in would be to let JJM sit one more year because of his injury and learn from a superbowl winning QB.

Honestly, given how well Darnold has played, maybe it’s worth re signing him for another season? If he plays like this all season, someone else is gonna want to sign him to a bigger, longer deal next season anyways.

We have no idea what we have with McCarthy and he isn’t going to be ready to be the starter next season anyways given his injury and lack of playing time this season.

Yeah those Stafford rumors are just click bait. If Darnold plays well enough they’ll re sign him.

IF Darnold keeps playing at his current level, he’ll sign elsewhere for alot more $ and more importantly more term than the Vikings are willing to give (we’ll offer no more than 1 year)

This will be JJ’s team next year, he’ll be throwing balls at practice in a month or so and then likely running the scout team by the end of the season…

100% agree. Lots of year left. He may keep playing at the same level, Play even better, or totally go to poop. What happens to him the rest of the year will determine where he’s likely to end up next season, My guess is it will not be here. If healthy at the start of next season JJ will be the starter.
