I think the better football team won the game this time. Before the game I felt like the lions were the better team, During the game I felt like they were the better team, and after the game I feel like they are the better team. That said I think they are only slightly better and there is a lot of season remaining. There is going to be lots of good tight games played in this division the remainder of the season.

Goff played a damn near perfect game and had 2-3 fumbles that the Lions recovered…I don’t expect that to happen again when we meet week 18 and potentially in the playoffs..
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23319October 21, 2024 at 8:05 am #2294991I was hoping they would have just tried that super long field goal instead of ending up getting sacked. I think the kid has the leg for it. I saw him kick one that would have been good from 70.

it would have been from 75+, KOC said if they had not got that 5 yard penalty he likely would have sent Will out there to try…
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23319October 21, 2024 at 8:13 am #2294993I forgot about the penalty too. Man so dang many unforced errors. Almost all of offense. How do they keep lining up offsides on defense too? My goodness. I saw at least twice where it didnt even get called.
October 21, 2024 at 8:44 am #2295005The Vikings need to get the killer instinct.. their 2nd to last series was a joke. All they needed to do was get a first down and instead they played the clock game and left it in Goff’s hands and left too much time. The Lions are who I thought they were… not that good, they should have lost with any Vikings end of game management.

Agree with most of this. Except that the Lions are not that good. Right now Id say they are one of the top 2-3 teams in the NFL.
October 21, 2024 at 9:19 am #2295016I didn’t see the game as we had the last week of Flag Football (a W so we finished with a 4-2 record), but game went about as I expected. Vikings up early, Detroit comes back and it’s close at the end. I was expecting a far better game offensively, especially passing for the Vikes, but Detroit has improved quite a bit on the backend and should be only getting better. Strength vs Strength on Detroits run game, and came out slightly on Detroits side as they basically hit their rushing average. I might watch it back, but this game really wasn’t life or death for either team with this much season remaining. I expect week 17 to be a huge one with massive playoff implications seeding wise.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23319October 21, 2024 at 9:19 am #2295018Just read a crazy stat about the lions. Over the last 4 games they have more TDs (18) than incomplete passes (16).

That’s is totally Crazy. Goff is playing out of his mind right now. Although Goff only passed for 9 of those TD’s. 9TD’s and only 16 incomplete passed is still crazy good.
October 21, 2024 at 3:09 pm #2295092The opening line for Thursday in Los Angeles favors the Vikings over the Rams by 3.
Cooper Kupp and TJ Hockenson are both likely to return to the lineups.

You lost me at the lions are not that good.
If they are not good then I don’t know who is in the nfc.
Please explain how passing on 3rd and 4 was not going for it while trying to kill the clock with 2 runs before that?
Yea I get it make the play and they win.October 21, 2024 at 3:25 pm #2295098Cooper Kupp and TJ Hockenson are both likely to return to the lineups.
Hope they are not rushing Hockenson back. I know at one time they said he could possible be out till much later in the season. I’d prefer they error on the safe side. We are going to need him down the road for sure.
October 21, 2024 at 3:31 pm #2295099He was pretty close to playing yesterday I think.
I agree though, being that they have about a 10 day break after Thursday, better to play it safe.
Also, the home game against the Colts on Nov 3 has been flexed to Sunday Night Football. It was originally slated for a noon start.
RipjiggenPosts: 11794October 21, 2024 at 3:52 pm #2295111He has been ready for over a month.
His words not mine.Yeah, they held him out of this game due to Detroit’s reputation for going low on TE’s, and him in particular, imo. I expect TJ back and dominant again starting on Thursday.
Dallas Turner with 4 snaps on defense..
And Patrick Jones was in on the last drive of the game. Personally I like a coaching staff that plays the players that they think are playing the best at that time over someone’s contract or draft spot. Dallas Turner will be fine.
RipjiggenPosts: 11794October 21, 2024 at 3:58 pm #2295115Dallas Turner with 4 snaps on defense..
Again he is 4th in the rotation at the moment behind vets that are playing well.
October 21, 2024 at 4:00 pm #2295119On 3rd and 4, you don’t pass… you spread it out and run a sweep or a designed delayed QB run. Too many variables on a pass that can happen. I guess I worded it wrong, the Lions are a good team, but they are not good enough to beat the Vikings at home. And for all of you that are gonna say.. “but they beat em”… no they didn’t beat them, the Vikings gave it to them. Oh well, I didn’t expect them to go undefeated !
RipjiggenPosts: 11794October 21, 2024 at 4:04 pm #2295121Ha would love to see the reaction of a run that went for 3 yards and then a punt.
Why do the Vikings always play prevent..
The lions kneeled twice before the kick so time wasn’t an issue. Execution on 1 play was.Biggest question mark is how do they react to a loss on a short week on a team they should beat.
CaptainMuskyPosts: 23319October 21, 2024 at 4:06 pm #2295122Turner is going to be great for years no reason to get worked up over his playing time as a rookie everyone else is playing well in front of him
October 21, 2024 at 4:08 pm #2295123You could make the argument that the Lions are the best team in the NFC.
Would not surprise me one bit if they represented the conference in the super bowl. Even without their best defensive player.
The roar has been restored.
October 21, 2024 at 4:21 pm #2295129You could make the argument that the Lions are the best team in the NFC.
I would say that is pretty clear, after a big road W. And after the Packers beat the Texans, and San Fran got whooped by KC, I’d put the Vikings as 2A and Packers as 2B for best NFC teams (since the Vikings won the head to head). While the North is setting records, the rest of the NFC is looking abysmal. Seriously, who else out there scares you? Seahawks, Bucs/Falcons and Commanders are leading the other divisions……..
October 21, 2024 at 4:24 pm #2295131Ya your right, there are no other teams in the NFC outside of the north that appears legit at the moment.
BrittmanPosts: 2010October 21, 2024 at 4:33 pm #2295135If Goff can stay healthy and continue playing at an elite level, Lions would have to be the favorite to represent the NFC.
Week 7 … with about 60% of the season to go … Lions are certainly front runners. Vikings, Packers, and Seahawks are all playing well enough to be there when it matters. Bucs and Commanders – we will see I guess as the season progresses.
NFL coaches love to say next man up, but there is a reason why starters are paid the salary that they command. Most teams are only a couple of key injuries away becoming average and going upside down if injuries become contagious.
Pitter patterPosts: 225October 21, 2024 at 4:34 pm #2295136Lions were the better team, if the Vikings want to go far into playoffs they better hope someone knocks the lions out for them

Note: The Vikings did not hold an official practice Monday; the injury statuses are an estimation had there been practice.
Tight end *T.J. Hockenson (knee) was listed as a limited participant along with cornerback Akayleb Evans (hip), running back Aaron Jones, Sr. (hamstring), outside linebacker Pat Jones II (shoulder), tight end Josh Oliver (wrist) and defensive lineman Harrison Phillips (shoulder).
Linebacker Blake Cashman (toe) did not participate.
Safety Theo Jackson (hand) and guard *Dalton Risner (back) were listed as full participants.
October 21, 2024 at 5:22 pm #2295145Hock said he is good to go. They have been holding him back extra long to be super cautious. He’ll play Thursday for sure, probably ease him back in concerning snap count.

It must have been their coming out party.
