Not a big Basketball guy, but follow the Wolves very casually and obviously pay closer attention in the playoffs. Good to see them play all 4 quarters, yesterday. Love the old MN team vs new MN team as an aspect of the match-up, although I’m not sure if the networks are even mentioning it any of that. Willing to bet most NBA fans under 40 don’t know the Lakers came from MN.

Are you talking about the lakers move from MN to LA? That was 65 years ago…not sure how that’s relevant anymore.

Yes, I am -and I’m not talking about it in the competitive or resenting sense of the North Stars moving to Dallas – I just think it’s cool history. Maybe I’m in the minority? Call me a dork, if you want. rotflol

No, it’s all good. But, you gotta be like 80 to remember that!

I think what made me focus on it is that a few years ago, one of my kids asked why they’re called the Lakers when LA is on the pacific ocean. I always thought it was cool that they kept the name.

And my mom is in her 80s and a big sports fan and she always talks about the old days of the Minneapolis Lakers.

Hahaha I just blew my kids mind recently when I told him why they are called the Lakers too. No George Mikan references yet…that I’ve heard anyway. TPups looked great the other night, hopefully they can grind out wins when they aren’t shooting the lights out too.

Wolves crapped down their leg last night. If it wasnt for Randle they would have lost by 40! The first quarter killed them and as expected they didnt shoot lights out and that cost them. Good defensively though so that is a positive.

Lakers punched back on their home court. Last night was about what I expected from game 2.

Be nice if we could get off to some better starts in the first quarter and find a way to not put up Rudy on Luka out around the perimeter.

You arent kidding here! My goodness, there isnt a worse matchup IMO. Luka is ridiculous, but I think Conley could guard him better than Rudy does.

Even after last night I still like the wolves chances. They shot like crap and the lakers, other then Luka, do not impress me one bit. Wolves should win this series.

Completely agreed. We laid an egg in the first quarter (not surprised after LAs intensity) and still fought back to make it a game late.

LA used a lot of energy and still scored < 100 points. If the wolves shoot a little bit better, we win. Now we go back to Target Center and do a little home cooking. I’m confident wolves take the series.

Wolves are about even this season home and away so it has never felt like home court advantage but if there is anything to hang your hat, Lakers are the worst road team out of all the playoff teams in the West so there’s that.

With that said, they will probably lose Friday at home and then take the next 2 because that’s how it works. We’ll see?

No wonder the NBA finals take place just before the 4th of July, if this series goes 7 it will cover 17 days from Game 1 to Game 7. I don’t think fatigue should be mentioned…

Nice win – didn’t let that flat 2nd quarter affect them.

Love that they’re in this, and I’ll keep watching as long as they are, but I just cant get into Basketball. Someone said the second period was flat, it was, and there was a whistle every 15 seconds. I feel like most of the game is watching free-throws. It is fun when a play comes together, much like Hockey, but in basketball it feels like there’s hardly more than 30 seconds without stoppage of play. And then when they do stop play they all throw their hand in the air and it’s a whine-fest.

I went to a couple wolves game this year and they were fun. The action moved faster than I expected. It seems like the constant fouls have gotten better than I remember it being.

Basketball doesn’t beat hockey for live sports but it’s much better than going to a football game.

Its far less stressful when I shut the game off in the 3rd quarter and wakeup at 5am and login to see they won…

Just like the Wild, game 4 feels like a must win…
