No sign of them yet in NW Wisconsin on my spots.

This is something I use to do a ton of when I was young. Every year I tell myself I need to go up to some of my old hot spots on the Crow Wing or Long prairie River near where I grew up. Use to have a ton of fun fishing them. We use to even spend weekends camping out and fishing them all day and night. The night bite was always fun. This was well before Headlamps and spotlight. One kid holding the cheap flashlight and the other kid reeling. Back then we would clean them up and brine them, we then would bring them into Morey’s in Motley and they would smoke them for us for next to nothing. Old Morey had a soft spot for young kids bringing fish in to be smoked.

I catch them for fun every year. I can catch 3 or 4 different species in my spots. From small to huge. Tried smoking them once and ruined it. I know a lot more about smoking fish now so I need to try it again.

They are full on now. Caught a couple with constant bites but got my fill of 48 degrees and steady rain pretty fast. Might keep some tomorrow morning for smoking.
