Didn’t forget anything tonight. Sitting in a area of mass acorns on the ground. Between swamp beds and corn.

Good job on the doe Steve. waytogo

I headed out after waking up from a bacon induced coma. Had to lube up the knees for the walk somehow. whistling

I’ve got a Reveal cam with nearly dead batteries thanks to the endless wind for the last two weeks. So, I was gonna head out today no matter what. Back in the woods on a ridge not far from a neighbor’s green hay field. toast

Its tough to tell but is that a small scrape you are hunting over POP?

I think that’s just a turkey scratch. I checked and no deer prints and no licking branch over it. But there’s always a couple right around me every year. One I’ve dubbed “the magic scrape”. It gets used year round and I’ve had to tie a new branch on the tree twice after the deer rip it off. I made a mock scrape a week ago that’s right in front that I’ll check out the cam card tonight.

I have found a few scrapes recently in the last couple walks. And those are right on our walking/4 wheeling trails.

First sit for me in a couple of weeks. Got a doe tag burning a hole in my pack. Decided to sit a tree I shot a doe out of last year. Hopefully another is bedded on the little oxbow again.
Same wind as last year there should be something in there.
Pressure is up tonight. 30.20 for my area. The deer should be moving with this little cold front that has pushed through.

On a side note. Got the skull back from my opener buck. I thought he would look good sitting in my office at work with a Kansas buck I shot back in 2018.

My owl buddy from the farm. Both times I sat in this particular finger of woods he came and hung out with me for the evening.

As for last night I saw a little 8 early on, and then around sunset something or someone pushed 6 antlerless deer out of the slough past me.

You and that buck get along great Randy. Even smiled for his picture. And next year he’ll hate you for no good reason!

Just got done grinding my doe. Used trim from a brisket I smoked for the fat. Going out again this weekend but it feels good to have meat packed in the freezer.

That will be a beauty in a couple years! Actually already is.

G1’s are not n a weird angle. Otherwise very symmetrical. Body wise, tiny deer. Very young.

Had fun blowing an elk cow call at him. He didn’t see me but dang well knew where it came from. He spent about 20 minutes looking for me. Must have some bull elk in his genes lol

Ya. He was smaller than the does around me. Was looking for his spots.

The twins just lost their spots this week

Had a very nice mature buck at 85 yrds. This little guy came right beneath me and knew something wasn’t right. Bolted out to about 50 yrds and everything cleared. Oh well
