    Congrats to both of you.

Michael, I appreciate all of your posts these past few weeks. I’m itching to get out there.

Me as well. I can’t get out until October 2nd. What’s even worse is all of my bucks have disappeared from my cameras.

The last couple days have been slow until the last 15 mins of shooting light, but I have had the opertunity to pass on 2 young 8s and a handful of other forks and 6s. Here’s tonight’s setup.

Back on a bean edge tonight. Last night was slow. Jumped a decent buck on the way in and I could hear one in the corn right at dark. Hopefully tonight there will be a bit more excitement.

    Good luck Hillhiker!
I will be back in the game Friday night. Going to run to ND after work for the weekend.
Basic plan is to hunt this weekend and next weekend in ND. Cover ground till I find a deer to hunt or I run out of time.
First weekend in October I will make the switch to Mulies in SD.

Good luck MB! I’m jealous of the SD trip. I was bummed I didn’t get drawn this year.

I finally have the right wind to sit the pond. One of the 10 points regularly beds about 100 yards behind me.

That looks like a wonderful spot to sit. How big of a farm do you hunt ? Or do you hunt multiple properties? And are your spots pre hangs or do you do the portable thing ?

I hunt a mix of private and public. With all the pressure on public around here I definitely spend more time on private these days. I’m lucky to have permission to hunt 3 farms totalling about 400 acres.

3 does, 4 fawns, and a pair of 6 points soon so far tonight.

You look like you have some great spots. In the least the scenery is awesome, but sounds like you have plenty of action.

I plan on boating across the river and scouting some Wisconsin land mid day.

    First night in ND.
Had a die and a fawn go by at 4 yards.
Right before dark had a young coyote go by at 30 yards. Swing and a miss on the coyote. Dang grass and weeds were too tall.
Corn field to the west on the other side of the tree line. Back behind me was a patch of timber but then in turned to cat tails before water.
Water was so shaped with the bottom of the L south of me.

Heading out for my first sit of the year. It’s a spot with terrible phone reception so I won’t be able to make a true live from the tree post.
Only after a big rack tonight. Neighbor and I have a large 10 named Brutus who travels past a good stand for tonight’s wind pretty regularly in the evening.

Arrows are still clean. Just a couple does around me tonight. Saw quite a few bucks on the drive home though. Lots of corn coming off the field’s as well. Combine’s and tractors hauling everywhere.

Last sit of my vacation. It sure is a nice night after all the heat last week.

This little cold front that has come in had the deer moving tonight.
Seen two good bucks and a bunch of does.

I was unable to hunt today. Had family plans and Dad had company at the woods. DeerCast said it was gonna be good. I’ll be ready next time. The two cell cams I have had more activity yesterday and today, than lately for sure.

Haven’t been in a stand the last 3 nights. I do have a doe tag and will try and get after one Friday and Saturday.
Been shooting about 30 arrows a night and doing a little scouting afterwards.
I have seen this buck 2 out of the last 3 nights.
Good luck to the guys that will be getting out.

That’s a nice one! Looking at the weather, Tuesday looks like a cold front coming in for a day. Last weekend of softball for kids for the year so hoping to get out more coming up.

I can’t wait for some cooler weather to hit, I’ll start taking the kid out for his first ever archery kill. I’m excited to do a double stand hang and sit above or below him and watch the hunt.

Still too hot out for me, had a good scouting drive last night though should have been out then.

Super calm tonight (and I was sweating balls by the time I got set up). Hoping to see one walk across this trail…

This warm stagnant weather pattern at the end of September is a tough time to shoot a buck.
Food sources are changing and the weather isn’t helping.
Cold front coming through on Tuesday. Should get some bucks up on there feet. Just have to figure out the new food source.
As much as I want to hunt I think I am going to take the weekend off.

Had a doe at 30, but no bucks came through. Saw a nice one on the drive home (of course).

Left my headlamp in the car. Made for an interesting walk out. I thought I did OK until I got home and realized I had lost 2 arrows out of my quiver.

Cold front coming through on Tuesday.

“Cold front” as in a drop from 85 to 65 degrees, which is actually normal for this time of year now.

Back up to 75 by the end of the week…

Saturday is showing a low in the 30s that would be a great time to be out.

I think a cold front in general will still have the deer up more than normal at this time of year. Especially with a longer run of 80+, even 65 is a good swing. I’m gonna hunt it. I’m thinking morning will work better to play hide n seek from work. waytogo

Out in the stand now. Yeah, it’s warm out, but that’s okay. Just hoping for some last hour action that I wouldn’t see watching football. No bugs and plenty of squirrels.
It’s a big boy or nothing night. To warm to work for just meat.
